Mine had never been within 20 foot of a horse before I came along, he was very wary to start with gradually got used to handling them.. I borrowed money to buy a youngster of OH, he is now OH's horse and he is learning to ride on him under my supervision.. he loves it, is at the yard every night with me and the amount we spend on them is never an issue...

Only prob is both our horses are young exracers, not the best to learn on so he is going for lessons to learn to canter on something schoolmasterish before attempting it properly on his own...

Him on his lad Darcy...

Here are some pics of my OH.
He rides professionally and competes BSJA. I really admire him as a rider and he has helped me so much with my horses. He is very understanding about the time it takes up...but not so with the money spent lol.

I want a horsey OH, would make life so much easier! One of my ex's used to havea go at horsey things sometimes, but it was because he thought he could do everything better than I could not because he wanted to ride. I let him prove how much better he was at mucking out many times

Mine didn't ride when we lived in the UK, as he didn't feel comfortable in an english saddle. When we moved over to the USA and visited my uncle the cowboy, it got to the point where I couldn't even get a turn!

Here he is on the fabulous Indian:

OH must admit is pretty good.He is a really good goffer. He'll poo pick fields(says he enjoyed it!weird!)but leaves me to ride.
He'll catch/turn out/change rugs for horses, groom, feed drive horsebox to shows, check on them if I'm working etc .
He took lessons for yr and half could have throttled him!!His lower half position was so good and legs never moved and so relaxed from day one!!!Still think it was because he rode a motorbike for yrs so was used to feet and hands working independently and having to balance.Well thats my theory!!

This is mine, we'd only been together a few weeks but he was keen to ride again after having ponies as a kid. He's on my boy Harley, who was recovering from broken knees. They went for a trot and basically left me standing! Slogged to the top of the hill and OH was sat on Harl having a fag (since given up thank goodness).

And this is him on Echo, just last month. He is totally unfazed by anything, am going to work on his one foot up one foo down odd feet position though!

And this is the foal he thought we should breed, yes it was his decision!

My OH used to ride and would now if I let him, but not overly convinced that he'd stay on son's horses - although he'd be fine on mine, probably show me up as he has no fear and I'm a wimp!

Reason I won't let him......he refuses to mess up his hair and won't wear a hat!!

Can post a picture of son if thats of any interest??

My OH never rode until he met me 6 1/2 years ago. He is now well and truly addicted.

Here he is on his cob Murphy
