Dog breed ID please 🙂 - has curled over tail

I think someone on here has one of these? Rings a bell from me asking someone their breed after posting a pup pic. I'm obsessed, I think I need one. Those generic internet pics are lovely but I happened to like the outlandish tail of the one posted earlier!

I’ve only met one and it’s bonkers.
I assume his coat and solidity is from neutering but the tail had me baffled. He does look beautifully calm.

I have seen the Tollers at Crufts and your original photo didn’t immediately make me think of them, only when he definitely wasn’t anything else I could think of!
There was a young one at a gun dog training club that I used to attend. The owner didn’t find him easy. I was under the impression they had a high prey drive and were very energetic. Google confirms this, so I am rather surprised that someone has a calm one.

Wait until you hear one bark 😈

I liked the breed but the two I have seen have really high pitched, annoying barks. And they enjoy barking. The owner of the one I've known the longest said it was a breed trait so I assume a lot of the breed are yappers.

They are handsome dogs though

they’re supposed to scream or yodel to attract waterfowl, it was deliberately bred in.
They’re a breed I looked at a few years back and rejected on the basis of too many health problems.

The lady who bought a pup with a hernia? I hope the situation resolved happily for everyone.

I guess there are ‘hot’ lines, same as in any breed. I’d say Bear (pet bred) is very laid back at home, lively when out in the woods, calm and focused when training. Jake (working bred) was calm in all situations. My liveliest one is Mitch! (working bred)

My friend’s mum bred them when I was growing up so I was lucky enough to spend a lot of time with tollers! Their male dog was the sweetest, calmest, loveliest dog I’ve ever met. Their female was smaller, finer and much more of a handful. The temperament seemed to vary among the puppies, they were all energetic dogs who needed a fair amount of exercise, but lovely family dogs. I never had one because we couldn’t commit to the exercise, despite being sorely tempted by gorgeous puppies… they really are the most gorgeous puppies I’ve ever seen.

I have known about 4 tollers and they have all been pretty calm dogs, they have however been in home that provide plenty of exercise and stimulation. Nice natured, good with people and other dogs and a happy go lucky nature about them.
They have all been smaller that this guy looked in your photos, less coat and white too. All of them carried their tails too but not all the time.
