Just remembered that I needed to ask about this!
Islay came with 4 weeks free insurance from the rescue charity, so I rang Petplan yesterday and activated it. Whilst I was on the phone to them I asked them how much it would cost to continue the cover - I was
at the cost though!
They quoted me £19.08 per month for budget cover (£4k vets fees per year) or £23.07 per month for standard cover (£6k vets fees per year)
The biggest bill I have had from a vets for a dog was £2,600 for my last black greyhound so I was thinking that budget cover would be sufficient (touch wood!)
So my question is (a) is it worth insuring your dog? I have had them all my life and have never insured one - the bill mentioned is the only big one I have ever had and (b) if you do insure your dog, do the rates I was quoted seem reasonable?
Islay is 5 in July BTW (if that makes a difference)
