Who has them for their dogs? Lots of my FB friends have them so I have just ordered one, I’m now hoping that they actually use it - has anyone had their dog refuse to use one? :)

I bought one as one of my whippets is an avid swimmer. He refused point blank to entertain it. I did get him to do some games like apple bobbing etc, but the paddling pool itself was a no go!

I think one of my four - Amy -
Is a dead cert as she loves water of any kind, Millie is also likely because she is a nosy little horror! But Flick and Hoover (who I particularly want to go into the pool because he feels the heat so much) might well be a lost cause....

I made sure I bought one that accepted returns :)

I have one, its 2 years old now and none of mine use it, I have a friends 2 Cockers staying with me and they dont use it either although they all drink out of it.

This might be an unpopular opinion, but given there is talk of hosepipe bans and droughts, I'm not sure I agree with using water for a dog paddling pool. I feel the same about children's paddling pools, if it helps :p

Fitz likes it now-he doesn't swim ever but will go in up to his tummy (up until recently he wouldn't). with Quarrie splashing about though, Fitz got wet and cool that way. they both LOVE the hose though, so they get a good soaking with that a couple of times a day too (not sure Scotland has ever had a hosepipe ban!)

I have a little pool and out of my three dogs one spends a lot of time in it even when it'is not hot but the other two never use it. It is one of those little hard plastic shell shaped pools that are sold for children and very cheap.

I have a shallow one for our dogs. If it's deep she won't go in it. When it's shallow she will lie down in it to cool down.

Mine wouldn’t use it, I reckon. They don’t try to get in the pond. It’s funny, given how keen they are to swim.

I have one although I am near the sea, my youngest flatcoat loves it, in and out all day to cool off. Puts her head under water or just stands in cooling her feet , or throws her ball or safestick in. Grand children join in too. Had to post pictures to Levrier because I can’t do it on here!
No hosepipe ban in Scotland.

Yes I got one, had it years and not one of the four terrier will even step in it! I threw treats in, stood in it myself etc etc 😂😂😂😂😂
Strange cos Buster used to stream walk even in the deep places, but not now

I did dig it out of the shed last night and put a couple of inches of water in, but still no interest

Mine would act like I was murdering him if I tried to get him into a paddling pool!

Don't think you'll be able to return an item that has been used, just because your dogs don't like it!

I bought one for my little GSD.

He loved it. He was in it for about 5 seconds then bit the side of it to test what it was like in his mouth. It deflated rapidly, leaving him wagging his tail in a giant muddy puddle, and confused about the lack of pool.

I would love to get him another one but he just likes chewing too much.

Lol how will they know I’ve done used it? It will just have had water in it, so I shall carefully dry it :D

That is so sweet SadKen, poor boy :)

Mine folds up Levrier. I would never have been able to return it looking new. Hope you have chosen one with a non slippery bottom that is specifically for dogs. Inflatable is not good either....see above!!

It was very adorable to witness, as his little face fell. I tried to be severe and point out that this is why he can't have nice things, but he was just too cute.

I probably will have to get him another one because he did love it, then stand over him and get splashed while repeatedly saying DON'T TOUCH IT!!

You saw my lot playing in ours, sadly it is no more. One too many flying entries from Freya, this was the second summer so not too bad. We are now on plan b which is a small sandpit type one which the girls can't have as much fun in but still manage a splash about.

i have just ordered one and then remembered i had an old atlas dog travel kennel in the shed so got the base out and filled it with water today. it is only about 6 inches deep at the moment as i dont have a hose so had to use a bucket. my collie cross who loves water hasnt shown any interest at all so far so i may be returning my paddling pool when it arrives.

We have a small plastic one, the solid type that are also used for sandpits. Both our dogs use it to cool off. They’re only little (JRX) and like to paddle more than swim. They take it in turns to stand in it. Kibble-bobbing is a favourite summer sport!

Sorry I don't think I was clear enough originally - the one I've ordered is a rigid plastic sand pit type one too, hence being able to try it out :) I must remember kibble-bobbing, I am quite sure that would be a favourite activity with all of mine :D

My big dogs won't use them. The cockers will but get thrown in the reservoir instead for a proper swim. :p

COCKER CRUELTY :o :o :o :o I think they both need to come and live with me as a safe home (apart from the hounds trying to murder them :p) especially Mr Huge Tan Eyebrows :D

Mrs Spaniel got hers last night - stupid me couldn't find the foot pump and spent hours blowing it up by hand (mouth!)

I've had a number of paddling pools over the years. Just been looking for pictures but I think they're all sadly lost to PhotoBucket but I'll have a faff and see if I can extract some. My woofs loved them, until they destroyed them, either with their teeth or nails. Buddy liked to charge in and out at great speed and the plastic soon sprung a leak.

Benji was very sedate and just used to lounge around like some Greek god. Clyde liked the pool but referred proper manly swimming - he was an underwater swimmer (scared me to death most of the time).

Don't have one now because, despite being spaniels, current two would rather shoot themselves than get wet!! Rufus in fact is half cat when it comes to water :)
