Dog Related- Minor Emergency

Thank you luci and cavecanem, sometimes I can kick myself for not knowing things, but in the long run that wouldn't help anyone... by learning and moving on, the dog (and our family) will hopefully benefit. :)

Our guinea pigs live in the kids room in winter and out in the summer. The girls love having them and take full responsibility for them. The dogs and cats ignore then though they would never be allowed unsupervised access. So these arrangements IMO are down to personal circumstances and views.

Sitting on a dog is asking for trouble but I think the OP has been really gracious and willing to accept advice; after all she did post for advice! Dogs, cats, horses, they can all be very dangerous in the wrong situation, and children need educated. 2 is very young and the dog will need to be supervised 100% until the child is much older by which time its behaviour will have been observed and a decision about rehoming made.

I think much too early to PTS. Its not a habitually aggressive dog. Two of our dogs are from Dogs Trust. Its full of dogs who have been rejected for similar reasons.
