dog starting to chew, hes 2 and never done this before could it be his teeth?

Could be, or it could be boredom if he's being left alone or anxiety, or a nutritional deficiency or lots of things really.

**Goes to claim prize for most unhelpful post of the day**:o

My lab x did this i called it the terrible 2;s :( he ruined my kitchen even took the plaster off the walls ive no idea to this day why he did it as nothing changed. I bought him a creat ( 1swt time i used one ) and he took to it so well used it as his own little den :) after a few months of useing it i kept the door open when i was out and he has never done anything wrong again he is 9 now.

Do you have a creat you could use ? has anything changed ? and what breed is he?

he is a border terrier he is on bakers dry food he get walked onced a day for about 1 hour 30 mins he sleeps in his cage through the night but hes been chewing pillow cases and quilts and stuff, do you think he could be sexually fustrated and needs castrated?
he was checked at the vets in april.x

He could indeed be humping the quilt and pilows if he is entire, these things can be gathered:o so that she can be huddles towards....well..:o:D his penis in order for him to hump at the same time they do usually chew and dig in order to gather them or just in frustration, it can also cause paraphimosis so I would indeed advise castration, if he has access to the whole of the house then decrease it, close all doors and choose one smaller area, have him spend time in this area when you are in the house aswell as out and leave him a kong filled with home made goodies (not the peanut butter it comes with) instead add chicken, cheese anything he would not usually get, so he can associated it with this area of the house, I would change his diet too, bakers is possibly the worst food you could have him on, you could go RAW and you will get advice on here is you ask, or change to a food with no colourant and preservatives, like skinners, Jameswellbeloved or Wainrights, ent loose faeces from dietry change, do it gradually to prev you can also use your dry food mixed with tuna and stuffed into his kong, switch the treats to prevent boredom and maybe get a huge bone to keep him occupied (un cooked) but lift all treats you leave when you come home, dont leave them down all the time, they must be treats for spending time in "his area" and when you are out, otherwise their reward level will be lowered.
This is why I normally advise no giving up a crate till atleast 2 years, you need to start small and increase and not large and decrease, as in the space you leave a dog to create a routine when you are gone.

He could either be bored, anxious and sexually frustrated, the above will help towards pacifying him, also make sure he gets the most exercise before you leave him.

I jsut re read you use a crate during the night, I would place him in it during the day and then gradually start leaving the door open and let him have the kitchen, but no the hole house.

Dogs chew to relax themselves when they are distressed or bored, not to annoy us!!!
Once you get that clear in your mind, all else becomes much easier to solve.

Agree, get him off the Bakers and get his nuts off :p
