Dogs ashes

For those that have had them back. What do you do with them? Wish I’d scattered them on favourite walks but we’ve moved now and not sure we are in our forever home either so can’t even bury them. Ideas? Thanks. Please no comments about why have ashes. Not sure I would next time. Didn’t get my ponies but I have a few nice teak boxes and really don’t know where to put them. Currently in another box in the lounge!

I have the ashes of our last cat and three dogs on my windowsill. If OH doesn't make it I hope to have them added to his coffin so they can all go together.

I have a box of dogs ashes sat in my kitchen ☺, was going to sprinkle on her favourite walk, but then thought what of we ever move, I'll be leaving her behind (this is the only dog I have ever done this for)
So, now I'm thinking big pot, plant a tree/bush with ashes in the bottom, then we can take her with us if we do move

I have ashes back in scatter tubes and they are either scattered or buried in the garden where my other dogs are buried.

I’ll have Daisy..’s ashes back when the time comes. Some will be scattered on a favourite walk. The rest will be buried with me.

I have a few caskets on the bookshelf waiting for the right spot/time. If we ever live somewhere settled with a small orchard then I may put them there. My step father is in a casket in a big plant pot on my mum's terrace - she wants their ashes to be combined when she goes and my FIL and SIL are in the wardrobe waiting for us to be able to work out how to get them to Italy to the family village. Sorry if this offends anyone.

That sounds like a good idea. Then you can take them all with you if you move.

Not offended at all. Wasn’t sure what to do with my mums ashes then luckily we were able to send them back to Canada where she was born.

We also can't bury them here and are hoping to move so I didn't like the idea of scattering on a walk, plus no one walk really stands out enough, so the casket is on the bookshelf for now waiting for the right time and place (and without intending to be morbid, that will almost certainly be after another one joins them). I like the idea of a big pot with a tree.

Mum sat on the bookshelf for five years until we were united in what to do with her ashes. ???

I have my dad’s ashes and my fil’s ashes in the study. I have no idea what to do with my dad’s ashes. He was an avid trainspotter and always said he’d go to Platform 2 at Crewe to die, I’ve never been, but I doubt I can scatter ashes there.

We had a spot picked out for mil and fil’s ashes, but it’s become overgrown and weed covered since they took the horses off it, so we need a new spot.

All of my dearly departeds (incl. OH) are planted under trees, some here, some in places dear to them. I don't suppose I'll be living here forever, so it was important that they were left in places that meant a lot.

I buried my OH's little dog and his three cats in their caskets round the tree I had planted in a memorial forest. I still have a lot more to probably bury in the garden. Banner, my Shetland is still in my front room, she will go up the field with the others in summer.

I hope your OH's health improves and you enjoy many more years together.

When we were arranging FIL's funeral I took the opportunity to ask the funeral director if my pets' ashes could go into my coffin and was told it's illegal, I plan to be cremated. Also applies to burials. He also said that our town's cemetery did not allow pet ashes to be scattered along with the owner's in the Garden of Remembrance.

Who’d know? It took five years for us to bury mum. Dais’s ashes will just be mixed in with mine.

I have Doug’s ashes. He is the only dog I’ve ever had cremated. Our others were buried. I just couldn’t bare burying him.
He’s been sat on a chest of drawers for ages!
Recently I sent a small amount to a company called Scattering Ashes and I’m having an oil candle made with his ashes in.
Also sent a bit and his name tag to the lady who bred Cecil and she is going to set them in resin for me as part of her portfolio so that’s really lovely of her. Can’t wait to receive both pieces.
I love the tree idea someone above mentioned, that’s really lovely but I kill most plants so I wouldn’t really trust myself to keep a potted tree alive and think it would really bother me if I failed.

I have my last dogs ashes, the only one Ive ever done this for. I dont know what to do with them. tiny garden that would be probably dug up when Im not here. I will probably take them out for a final walk somewhere and scatter them.
One friend had a concrete donkey garden ornament with paniers that she put her dogs ashes in and took them with her when she moved.

That’s so lovely, that’s partly why I couldn’t bury Doug. He wasn’t nervous but was a home body cuddle monster. It’s also why I can’t scatter him. He loved being at home with me. He didn’t fit under my bed (I tried!) but is in my room.
