Does your dog have a really firm favourite?
As a puppy we gave ours a teddy to sleep with and still at 18 months its carried everywhere and slept with. If its missing he will go search for it and display really obvious happiness at finding it.
When I get home from work (with the dog) I open the front door and he knows to go into the kitchen not the living room (carpeted!) He's really good about this...UNLESS teddy is on the carpet within view at which point all training go's out the window, he leaps in, grabs teddy then trots into the kitchen!! (my fault, I need to make sure either the doors shut or to chuck teddy into the kitchen before we leave in the morning!)
There is not a huge amount left of teddy, a body but no head and little stuffing and I regularly pick bits of him up
None of my other dogs have had such a loved item, they had toys but would be as likely to get one of them as any other.
This is like a small child (If I wash teddy and put it on the line dog lies underneath til its dry!)
Does anyone elses dog have a cherished object?
