Reading in WigglyPig's thread made me wonder how many people let their dogs on their beds? I always slept with Yellow Dog in the bed - he made an excellent barrier between me and my OH :D Since we've split up I've removed Yellow Dog to a bed on the floor next to me and it's bliss not having hair in the bed (I think I have a mild allergy coz I used to get itchy all over) plus I have the bed to myself and I'm not shoved into the corner  :D He sulked a bit at first but is quite happy with it now :)

My elderly (14) terrier likes to 'sneak' up onto my bed a few times a week (usuallly first thing in the morning or during the day), more so during the winter when he feels the cold, he gets away with it but as a general rule our dogs aren't allowed upstairs.

Mine gets on my bed when I'm out of the house.
She hops on the bed when I go to bed, has a cuddle, the moves to the foot of the bed. She then slopes off to her bed on the floor (her choice) the minute I turn the light or TV off.
I get up early to feed the menagerie, and on the odd occasion go back to bed, in this instance she gets on the bed and stays put.
If I don't invite her on the bed when I'm in it, she stands staring intently at me wagging her tail ... Which bugs the hell out of me, so it's less annoying for to let her up - she does give very good cuddles though :-)

Ahh yes my little man does this, it is so annoying when he wakes me up in the middle of the night so he can get into bed, I don't think he's waiting for me to invite him up, more waiting for me to pull back the duvet to let him get IN to the bed

Only at work, cos my blankets are strewn on reception floor where I chill out on break time, at home, NO! they don't get on bed, my OH believe it or not is allergic to dogs:eek: bless him, so the bedroom is dog free and very airey, windows open nice clean sheets all the time to help him breath. The whippets used to sleep in the bed, but I stopped it when OH was getting really bad.
He gets ill with every new dog I bring in (which is a hell of alot) he has lots of anti allergy meds.

When I was in wretched post marital madness, I had the dog on the bed for the company. Then to lessen the fur on my duvet, banished him to rug on the floor. Then when I realised he made my bedroom a bit stinky, he was back downstairs. Sounds like a country music version of my marriage.....hey ho

My dogs are rather spoiled....beds in every corner of the house, access to the couches, and yes to my bed. None of them exactly get cold (except the old girl, who is the least hairy of the lot, but she can't come up for fear she might fall off). I would sooner kick the hubby out of the bed! LOL ;)

No it's disgusting! In NI Tink is an outdoor dog, and allowed into the kitchen at times. Here she has the run of downstairs, as it's open plan, but no bedrooms or upstairs.

I can't even imagine why you'd want a dog on the bed!

LOL, I don't know WHY I want them on the bed, but I don't sleep very well without them! However, my dogs are a testament to good grooming - very very clean doggies (if they weren't, I would have to find a new job).

When we went on holiday in a lovely cottage in the Highlands, the dogs weren't allowed on furniture or in the upstairs areas at all. They slept in the kitchen next to the Aga. They weren't impressed, and as lovely as the house and bed was - I didn't sleep well at all.

When I was a child my whippet used to sleep in the bed, in pre central heating days she was very welcome. I also had a long haired chi who used to sleep on the bed, he taught me to keep very still , if you moved your feet he would bite them!
I don't have the shepherds upstairs, bitter experience has taught me that in many cases in old age they will struggle with stairs, and I feel mean at that stage stopping them sleeping in the bedroom, better not to start. Having said that Buffy and her mum Chaka used to come up if I had a lie in on a Sunday morning and bounce on the bed. :D

Yup my boxer sleeps on the bed, always has. I have a super king size bed so you think I would have loads of room but no I always end up on the edge and she sprawls out like the queen bee. But I wouldn't have it any other way!

I was just thinking again about this - I've had toy breeds for some 18 years - and that's how long dogs have slept on my bed! However, I've since had terriers and now my poodle and the dogs are getting bigger, and the bed a bit smaller for it! LOL

Mine comes up in the morning for half an hour when OH is working lates, (OH brings him up) and then again that evening as he is in work and I am ready to go to bed.

He does not come to bed to sleep with us however as he is too big and stretches the entire length of the bed, or lies on my legs which really hurts! He is also a whiner and if he did that in the middle of the night I would not be impressed!

He is also moulting terribly at the moment and I am changing the bed every other day ... starting to get on my pip.

A x

No thank you, she has her own bed. Its like having cats in the kitchen when they walk on the work tops I hate that as well.

Henry has slept on my bed twice - once when I had a hellish journey and got home at 3am, I felt so guilty for leaving him for so long I took him up to bed...:o

The second time after I had stupidly watched a scary film:o

The first time he was fine, the second time he kept having dreams and booting me in the back while he bounced around the bed:mad: So we're not doing that again!

my dalmatian sleeps in bed with me head on the pillow and under the duvet !! i love it all though i dont tell too many people as they think its disgusting ! i wash my sheets regularly so its fine - allthough i do wonder what will happen when me and my bf get our own place !

Sweep has always slept on my bed - loves his cuddles :D

Max's previous owner let him sleep on the bed so he does to:D

Max sleeps by my feet and I have a king size so there is plenty of room. In the winter when it's freezing I glad of their bed warming - when it's warm they both take themselves off to where ever for a kip but both come back by the time I wake up:D

My dog isn't allowed upstairs but does come when I invite her. However she's a nightmare to sleep with cos she's a wriggly little bugger so we don't do that anymore even when OH is away!! Xx

Mine aren't allowed upstairs, let alone my bed! I like that upstairs is a non-stinky hair-free zone :p

I can't quite believe that I am asking this (and don't really expect any answers, lol), but how do those who have partners and dogs in their bed manage to share any -ahem- personal time??! ;););):D

ETS: Just to clarify, I meant personal time with the partner!!! :D

Throp has his own comfy bed on the floor by ours where he sleeps at night, but in the morning when OH goes off to work or during lazy weekend lie-ins he gets on our bed for a post breakfast snooze & snuggle. Hector liked to sleep at the end of our bed most nights unless we kicked him off into his own bed, he made a good footwarmer.
