We know Clodagh isnt a Flat coat fan! - I'm not sure I have ever met one.

What dogs do you just not like etherr its for a reason or just because you're not a fan...

I don't like the classic nasty looking dogs much, Mastiff's Cane Corso, big bull types- No reason I just don't look at them and think what a lovely dog! I didnt used to much like whippets but have met so many nice ones that I have had to change my mind!
I have a definite preferance for small dogs and in the future probably won't have anything over knee height, that's nothing against any specific breed though.

Mr P hates Doberman's apparently he was chased, knocked over and play bitten by one as a kid.

My old boss was utterly terrified of Yorkies- which surprised me. He was bitten on the nose by his grandmothers as a child also.

My quite weird one but a breed that ido like but feel like I shouldnt' is an Old English bull terrier, probably just because of a lovely one I used to know.

Anything 'doodle'. I have met a few that were quite nice people but I think they get bred a lot for looks rather than temperament, are often crossed between breeds you'd never logically cross and a lot of them are neurotic, yappy weirdos. Probably not helped that people buy them because they want a dog that looks like a teddy bear and don't do any proper training or socialisation, but yes I will cross the road if I see a small bouncing doodle thing walking towards me with my dog 🙈

Other than that I'm quite fussy with dogs I'd actually own, I like working breeds with a trainable brain and drive, I don't have much time for dogs with no brain but I appreciate they suit other people who don't want an ADHD workaholic 24/7 😅

Im the same as you, any bull breeds are a big no from me. Also really dont like weimaraners. Its the eyes
I knew one lovely Weim but recently met two that now, yes I absolutely understand the eyeball thing.

I'm not the biggest fan of border collies. I dont like being stared at. One took a chunk out of my leg and while I didn't personally blame the dog it has had an effect on my tolerance for stalking and sneaking.

Can't have a shih tzu. Half my family are shih tzu people now and not a one of the dogs is even nice.

(take the below with a pinch of salt, I am generalising and I like most dogs, just being pernickety)
Huskies, I don't think they are pet dogs and I have never met an endearing one.
Anything white with brown crust
Yorkies but because of the people who usually raise them to be yappy and fear aggressive
I don't trust Akitas on the whole
Long haired German Shepherds, specifically fat ones who are fed on cheap food, they stink

Oh god don't get me started

I'm actually an easy-going and laid back bloke who adores *most* dogs except:
Anything that excessively drools (due to breeding)
Anything that barks/yaps/whines incessantly (due to owner rewarding noise)
Merle cockers (it's not a cocker...)
Silver labs (it's not a lab...)
Brachycephalic dogs (why are we breeding these, just why?)
Fat dogs (due to overfeeding by owner)
Hyperactive/out of control working breeds (untrained and/or unemployed)
Working line gundogs that have been trained to drop the ball at the owners feet (aargh, just spend a couple of hours and teach them to hold, fgs)

TLDR: dog owners and breeders

Anything with a wide jaw, so bully breeds but also Rottweilers.

Huskies as I think most don't get the exercise that they need. They seem to pull their owners around.

Anything that does not appear to be friendly.
What about a staffie?
I used to dislike them but again mat a few who were the happiest kindest dogs and my view of them turned to smiley not a bit scary!

I don't like Yorkshire terriers or chinese crested dogs- the ones I've met have tended to be rather scabby.
I've also come across quite a few labs with dodgy temperaments- to the point that I'm always suspicious of free roaming labs when a footpath/bridleway passes through a farm yard. In the interest of fairness, I have known some well adjusted labs as well!

I can't ever see myself owning an Akita or Belgium Malino. I'm not convinced I'd own a Pom or a Pug or some of the small breeds - but we had a lab x Great Dane as kids and not really had anything much smaller since so they are a bit unknown I guess.

Bony dogs. Not a fan of whippets, greyhounds, skinny lurchers or yapping trip hazards like chihuahuas, yorkies etc. Anything that fits in a handbag.
Or any squished face dogs or bullies, akitas etc. Or designer dogs. The ones that cost £2-4k for a mongrel. Or slobbery ones like St Bernards.

List of ones I like is probably shorter!

With caveats: the cockerpoos around here appear to be from the same place and are very nervy, fear aggressive and loud.

I've been mobbed by lots of various indeterminate white curly yappy things over the years, hard to nail down if Bichon, Maltese, etc etc and lots of rude and aggressive black labs.

There's a certain type of nervy, fear-biting farm/pet bred GSD I can't have about me.

And sorry but I find dobermans very frustrating. Beautiful to look at and capable of flashes of brilliance but equally capable of all the information just falling out of their heads and them going for laps of the field when they decide they can't be arsed.
I'm used to effort = reward and I can't think of another breed where I have put, or helped the owner put in so much work and have seen so little progress. Although of course I cannot legislate for what goes on at home.

Brachycephalic breeds.
Dogs with tail carried high up close on their back.
Large bull types.
Yappy dogs.
Ill disciplined dogs that are all over you whether you want it or not.
Hairy dogs with stained mouths and tear area under their eyes.
Dogs that smell.
Maybe I'm just intolerant.

These are my thoughts. French bulldogs should be allowed to die out naturally until there are none left imo.

I'm always surprised at how many people say how beautiful my GS is. Multiple people say it to me almost daily! Obviously I love her dearly as she's a lovely character and she's mine, but I just can't see that she's stunningly beautiful at all. I knew her for a long time before she was mine and I remember thinking she looked untrustworthy and I was quite nervous of her (I now know that I was totally wrong as she'd never hurt anyone).

Brachycephalic breeds, I really don't get the appeal of a dog that can't breathe and has a face flatter than my tv!
Small, yappy rat dogs.
White dogs with brown stains
English bull terriers
I didn't like greyhound/lurcher types.....until I got one! Although my Lurcher was mega high maintenance (separation anxiety/fear aggressive/unable to fully relax in new surroundings - rescued at 7/8 years so well established issues) he was one in a million and completely devoted to me. I would have another stick legged, pointy nosed dog in the future
Cocker Spaniels/Springers/any hyperactive dog

French Bulldogs and German Sheperds are right up there on the 'breeds I dislike' personally.

Aside but related to that I can't understand why anyone would choose a breed that is known to have real health issues, especially difficulty breathing, it just defies logic to me.

No offence meant to anyone who has and loves these breeds - as the current owner of a 'slobbery' breed I'm seeing a bit of negativity myself 🤣

Totally get this; a family member owns one of these - it's only fine with people it knows well. It gets along with fine with me, but I can't relax around the dog as it always feels like it's on a hair trigger.

Interesting that labs with dodgy temperaments has also been mentioned, of course the vast majority are fab dogs but I personally knew of one that was extremely dodgy (human aggression - was PTS eventually after attacking someone without warning)

Dogs with facial hair, cockapoos and the like, that have permanently damp muzzles and crusty eye boogers, and look grubby and stained.

I also do not ‘get’ border collies despite being in their #1 sport.

Agree about hairy faced dogs but what don't you get about BCs? They are the ultimate dog - intelligent, athletic, fast, easy to train, live to please, live long lives, smart looking, fluffy enough to be cuddly but not collect too much dirt - what's not to like?

A Friend had an Italian Spinone. He was a gorgeous person but i remember sitting and watching where the drool landed when he shook, which he did a lot, so much drool and it was dried on slithering down the walls and kitchen units 🤢 I couldn't eat there after he arrived.
So I add drooly dogs to my list.

Yes, a friend of mine had one (recently loss but she was a good age, 13 or 14). Her muzzle was always disgusting, a mop for food, dirt and drool. It totally put me off fussing her which was a shame because she was a lovely dog. The worst was when she'd put her head in my lap while round for a coffee, yuk!

Ooh, I've got a new one on my list: shetland sheepdogs. Oh my god, they are so ear piercingly yappy! They seem to be quite the thing in the small and medium (?) agility sections and they've put me right off ever having one, if I'd somehow got over their vegetation collecting, tick hiding fur.

I think I've already listed on here they type of dogs that aren't for me, though I can appreciate the individuals (mostly!), I don't want one at home.
- needs to wear a coat when young and healthy (whippets, greyhounds)
- needs professional grooming (poodle, yorkie, etc)
- has ears that trail on the ground / in it's dish (bassets, blood hounds)
- short legged and long backed and can't clean it's own bum (TMI but little T couldn't clean his bum and I found it incredibly sad that he was made in a way that stopped him carrying out natural, albeit unsavoury, dog behaviours) (dachshunds, bassets)
- can't breath through it's nose (french bulldogs, british bulldogs, pugs)
- facially inexpressive dogs (Akita, shar pei, chow chow)
- weighs more than me (anotolian shepherd, patou, etc)
- has no hair (chines crested, etc)
- excessively droolly (boxers)
- requires extra paper work to own in my area (rottweilers, american staffs)
- so hairy you can't tell the head from the tail (old english sheepdogs and that dish mop breed)

I think I've cover most of them!

There are so many....

Bull breeds. I could stomach a proper Staffy. The small ones. The way they are meant to be. Generally though, I don't like Bull breeds.

Spitz types. Gobby. Don't like the look.

Husky, Akita, Shiba Inu, Shar Pei. Can't easily read them. Don't trust them.

Labradors. Sorry. Sorry. I like the more finer, athletic working style. But I cannot stand the sloppy ones you see all over the place.

Paddertale. Twatterdale.

Beagles. Or Harriers. Or similar. Bog off. Don't listen. And that noise! A woman had a Harrier locally and it would sing the entire walk. Could hear it from miles away, I swear.

Pugs. It's the one breed that my Whippet loses his mind about. I trust his judgement.
