Dolly met her new owners today :)

Obviously we are all sad that Dolly will be leaving. But a big part of that, TB, is the way that you have kept us so entertained with your brilliant posts. From the moment you suspected Tessy was in-foal... to THAT famously long thread leading up to Dolly's birth and then the subsequent pics and updates, it is YOUR input that has kept us all enthralled and interested.

I think it is great that you already have a new mum for Dolly.... it means that you now have a few months to come to terms with the idea and to slowly emotionally detach so that when the time comes for her to leave it won't be *quite* so difficult.
 
Tb - I think youre doing the right thing, and sometimes that is the most difficult thing. I sold my beloved, wonderful coloured last year because he just didn't enjoy the job I had him for anymore, and he definitely was not a Lincolnshire horse (hated dykes). I could have struggled on but he deserved the whole world so I sold him. Never will forget saying goodbye but he often pops up on my fb feeds doing fun and exciting things, and I still think it was the most selfless thing I've ever done, well done for making such a hard decision. :)

I wouldn't want to do the head in the sand trick, it's not fair on Dolly and planning ahead means she has found a smashing home :)

:o Thank you so much, that is so very kind of you. I was amazed at the support we had and what a suprise young Dolly was :) Her new family are really nice people and whilst it hasn't set in yet i can begin to treat her as someone elses horse :)

Im sure that was a horrible thing to do :( I canunderstand the dyke issue... they scare me too ;) very brave of you though. Whilst i will miss her i can reassure myself its to a fab home
 
I think you've done the right thing, hunny. I know we were all imagining you'd keep her, but cute foals sway the feelings and have special places in our hearts. :)

She sounds like she's found a fabulous new home and she'll be super well looked after. It would be lovely to hear from her new owners and to see her growing up.

Thanks lovely, she is very cute but not practical to keep her :( Maybe if i was in a well paid full time employment and could do it but she is going to a fab home :)

Im sure they said they would do
 
You've done the right thing for Dolly, can understand why you've made that decision and Dolly has got a lovely home to go too :-)
 
Fantastic news that you have found Dolly a good home who will help her become a sensible grown up girl. Lets hope they keep us posted on her progress, it has been lovely to see her growing into such a lovely, confident little horse.:)
 
Really pleased for you. Sad as it is to say goodbye, it's happy that not only can you stay in touch, but also really really sounds like a great new home.
 
Well done Abbie, a very hard decision to make, but the right one. It is the people who do not face up to the amount of time and cost of unplanned horses who end up not caring for them properly.

I hope you get a uni place sorted as well.

Look forward to updates from new owners. York moors is a lovely part of the country.
 
hi everyone, just wanting to introduce ourselves to all off dollys aunties, our names are lou and ed and we live on baildon moor, we cant wait for dolly to join our family which includes, us, teenagers, 2 dogs, 2 cats, 2 hand reared lambs, a tb called stanley, and our young cob x nylah.
would like to say not only was it lovely meeeting dolly today but also Abbie and her family who are welcome to come visit dolly whenever they want, we will also be keeping her name as Dolly.
this is going to be Dollys forever home where she will be loved and in a few years enjoying hacks around the moors with ed, and me and stanley
 
Ooo how lovely! You know you're going to get mithered to death for updates though now don't you! Tessy has set the standard!

i will defiantly keep up the updates, would be wrong not to, think im too soft but i filled up reading the lovely comments about us x

we all said as soon as you came we felt more than happy knowing dolly will have the best with you :) The type of home we really wished for has come along ! will enjoy seeing all the updates when it comes time for her to move and meet her new friends and family :) x
 
Sad but great news all round by the sounds of it :)

Did you advertise her or was it the power of the forum in action?
