I don't know if people remember but I bought Dolly last year by accident so that I could get out of the situation of buying another horse and then Dolly turned out to be lame. After a lot of unsuccessful negoitions with the Dealer and getting a horse he was offerning in a swap vetted (it failed dramatically) I decided that I would rather pay a vet to fix her, and take the chance it might not work, than give that Dealer any more of my money.
So she went off to Willesley, was operated on, came back looking fabulous and full of beans - I was expecting Miss Depressed. She behaved herself impecably on box rest for a month, and then I got to start riding her again - which she thought was great fun.
I went on holiday in December for a month and she went and stayed at a friends and came back looking and feeling great. Since then the vet told me to just get on with it and we have been, walk, trot, canter and a bit of jumping.
On Sunday when I went to the farm my sister had a grid set up and we joined in and she felt fabulous. She was just pinging thru it and jumping them enourmous, which she never used to do before.
I finally feel like she is cured as she is totally sound and really enjoying herself. My lorry gets MOT'd in March and then I can start going to shows again.
Fingers crossed that by writing this post that I haven't jinxed her and she is lame when I get home....
