How did I manage to talk to someone who actually liked the horse they got from him?

[/ QUOTE ]

I still feel VERY guilty

I wasn't actually thinking of you - and looking back he sold you a dodgy one as well. The thing is everyone thinks he's great and then you start doing a tiny bit of digging and it all comes out. He is too charismatic and comes across as so blooming honest.

The first horse I had - Cilla, he told us had a vets certificate done 6 weeks ago. It was actually 2 years old and someone had tried to change the date.

I know he did, but I did say he was OK - and yes, should have thought more about Splodge and what I went through with him shouldn't I

Saying that I did think it was a one off and didn't realise there was a pattern - lesson learnt but I still feel horribly guilty about it all.

Don't worry, if she stays sound I've ended up with a horse I would never have been able to afford if she hadn't been crock in the first place. We also talked about Splodge on the way over to his place so it wasn't like you kept it a secret or anything.

If Cilla had been as he described I would never have ended up with Dolly as I would have got her vetted first and she would have failed. It was only because I was so desperate to get rid of Cilla and Dolly was the way out.

BBs your the one person I've found who has actually been happy with a horse they got from him.

HAHA i know quite a few who have been happy with their horses also. Not just me.

At the end of the day, no one ever said he was a saint! none of them are.

I guess it was just bad luck that the 3 I had off him were all so awful.

Also bad luck for the guy I found who had to have his put down, the other guy I met at Dorset who was also left with a complete cripple after a few weeks and all the other horror stories I've heard about him

Does no one get their horses vetting now a days? not just vetted but checked that they would be able to withstand the job they are intended for?

Weighing in fwiw - I know five other horses that came from him; four are happy, sound hackers who give their owners a lot of pleasure, and one is an advanced dressage horse.

I have a sporadically 'special' one now - believes she is a princess and is just waiting to be called up by the queen for royal duties which comprise of looking pretty and not much else meanwhile she has to get muddy and sweaty with me......

The one I had before was very 'special'. Incredibly talented but his brain didn't always work normally. Lovely horse though!

Thanks... I had a little feeling that was what it was from a while ago, but my brain is a little fuzzy

I cannot tell you how reassuring it is to hear a positive account... although I know Dolly had the operation whereas my horse has not.
