Hello all!
Just an update really, and wanted to start my own donkey thread so i can sort of have my own diary on 'Eddie's life!

Some of you may remember last year, my donkey yearling was scanned in foal, as the pregnancy was so late, it was risky to abort the pregnancy, so with alot of advice from friends, vets and some people on here! She had a healthy colt foal!
We were worried as she was so young she would just leave him, or not produce ebough milk, but everything went smoothly and she was/ is a fantastic mum!
That was back in july, eddie is now 6months old, and if some of you remember my previous thread, we are currently trying natural weaning, currently P is having a feed once a day, just something extra over the winter, so she is coming in once a day to have her food and a groom etc.. While eddie waits in the field, this has gone really well, other than a little calling to start with its been fine, P couldnt care less as long as she has food infront of her and getting a groom, and eddie just waits patiently by the gate!
Anyway, here are a few pictures of them, the first few will be from when he was first born, and the others are of varying ages, i'll try and put them in order!

Sorry for the pic overload!

How beautiful. I have 2 donkeys (as well as 3 horses) and love them to bits. What are you planning to do with your donkeys? Mine love people and cuddles, can jump (yes, they love it), pull and cart, are happy being ridden and have been trained to do one or two tricks. I think it really helps with their life chances is you can make them as well handled, interactive and fun for people as possible - and the secret of it all is gingernut biscuits!!! They are wonderful pets.

Too cute ! Tend to think donkeys get overlooked when people want equines. As a previous poster has said they can do all sorts and are very loving.

Thankyou all for the lovely comments!
as peanut had the foal so early, she is having a year off, atleast, but we are hoping in the future to break to ride (i have young nieces who are horse/donkey mad)
And then once eddie is old enough, maybe pairs driving, they are identical, markings and all!

But at the moment they are coming in for grooms, feed and general groundwork!

Posting an update,
If you read my previous thread about Eddie being de-balled!
I was worried it wasnt going to happen because he hadnt 'dropped' yet, but after some sedative they soon appeared!!
It all went well, and he is now fully recovered! The vet said he and Peanut are both looking well..
We have started walking out individually and they both come in on their own for a groom and peanut is having a feed in the mornings to keep her condition!

Anyway.. As it is Eddies 8month birthday today I took some pictures of them both! And actually managed to get some decent shots of Peanut standing square and not pulling a horrible face!!!

Thankyou, yes - it was abit of a nightmare worrying, but luckily she foaled unexpectedly in the field, and i checked on her at 6am abd there he was, dry, stood up and feeding! She is a brilliant mum, especially as she is/was so young!
