Right well this is slightly embarrassing but you know me I'll just say it anyway.

Went for a long ride on Saturday and I suppose what with the warm weather an all it didnt help, then when I got back, I rode again on my lad in the school, so was in the saddle quite a lot that day.

Now I'm well ermmmm.....a little chaffed in the old lady garden department!

I won't go into exact detail, I know its early and you may of just had your breakfasts but I'm sure some of you ladies must of experienced this before and ended up with a few blister type soars and well lets be honest here.....it don't tickle!
shocked.gif
specially when you have to peel your knickers off....bit like when you were little and you stuck your very first sanitary towel in th wrong way round...sticky side up...
grin.gif
well now you get what I'm talking about.
grin.gif

Thing is I did have a pair of comfortable granny basher type knickers on, I had some jods on too (not jeans as sometimes I do ride in a comfortable pair), so I can't understand it, do you think your more likely to get it when your riding in warm weather on long rides on a swade seat rather than a leather one because if you think about it, when your on a leather seat you may move a tad more but onto a swade synthetic seat when its warm there is more friction because the material of the saddle kinda grips you? (if that makes sense) specially when your riding a horse that you have to squeeze on all the time, he's the hores is very lazy.

How do you prevent it? at this rate I'll be putting that skin hardener stuff on that you use for horses on my ....*coughs* lol or padding out my knickers with those gel party feet thingy's!
grin.gif

Even the OH is banned in the bedroom department
wink.gif
until I heal and the thought of riding this week, well it brings tears to my eyes!

Do those riding pants really work?
confused.gif

Oh dear.......

Those synthetic saddles are awful for that. Cant say I have had problems in that region but inner thighs have been a bit rubbed before. Sorry only advise is get a leather saddle!!!

Sorry pants might be cheaper!!!!

ouch
blush.gif
yes, I sympathise, I've had this esp in hot weather + sitting trot and I only have leather saddles
crazy.gif

I find having granny pants with really flat seams/binding helps - and in the meantime, if you are desperate to ride, careful application of a plaster over the blister should make it bearable
shocked.gif
grin.gif

Phew so its not only me then, if there known for doing that, then I feel a bit better now, didn't know if it was me that had too sensitive skin etc

I hindsight yes but ....now tell me if I'm wrong here but wouldnt that be twice as painful when removing it

Get a vlister plaster, they don't hurt at all to take off and you can get them in all shape and size...mainly designed for the feet but still something would fit
smile.gif

I can gladly say I've never been chaffed there, even after endurance rides on hot days BUT I have never had to kick constantly and on a ride you are in half seat a lot of the time.

I have had a bruise there before having been slammed into a rather boney wither from a canter, I actually cried with pain, it's making my eyes water even remembering it.

So sympathy from me!

Oh God I have sympathy for you (and your OH...) I second PS re the vlister plasters they are fab - and you leave them til they come off by themselves and don't hurt even if you do pull them off.

What about some seemless knickers (m+s) do them, that way nothing to rub in the future!

erm...

no worse than waxing
blush.gif
(make sure you are 'tidy' round there before applying plaster, otherwise yes, removal = pain)
crazy.gif
But seriously, it certainly helps a lot.

(only kidding folks, just couldnt resist that one though)

I have exactly the same problem when i ride in the wrong jodphurs. I have taken to using plasters occasionally and sudocrem to help it heal.
Now normally when i ride, i have to wear either jodphurs with a suede seat on them, so not cheap..think pikeur!! Or i wear bicycle riders leggings underneath jodphurs as they have a thick padded area where you sit on the saddle. Hope you get better soon!!x

arr right, I've never heard of that before (I shall google it now) I take it they will sell it in Boots, if so I'll get some at lunch time.

Thank you PS

definitely second the padded cycling shorts - loverrrlllyy although a little hot ......... I also use a lovely soft seat saver. I rode in a pair of pants which had a VPL and they gave me a line of blisters around my backside that looked horrendous - couldnt sit down for ages!

Sorry the vlister was quick typing on my behalf, it was meant to be blister plasters! I think there are a few brands out there (none called vlister!) I use the Compeed ones when I have been wearing silly shoes (which is far to often!)

ETS: they sell compeed in most boots stores! And a handy tip is heat the plaster up in your hands before applying and it will stick better
smile.gif

I'm sorry kenzo i did laugh a little (but only cos it made me remember ur reply to a kao's post the other day about vpl!) Glad u recognise whats causing it this time! lol
grin.gif

I personally cant imagine applying a plaster to that area, but if it works it works I guess! Deffo get the sudocrem out, Be prepared to scream or bite something hard when initially applying though!

Personally I nearly always ride in jeans and dont get this issue anymore and can see the downside in this respect to a suede seat definately! Not sure if I can think of any geniune pearls of wisdom tho! So I'l just say...Hope you are all healed soon!

....ok I shall get a hard block of wood at the ready to bite on this evening,,,,,could be worse, could be TCP!!!

true! I once applied witch doctor to that area too....couldn't say I would recommend that one! oooo my eyes are watering at the memory!
blush.gif

I get a similar problem but on my bum from the seem of my jods if I ride for a long time and find that vaseline does the trick. I read something (was it on here?) the other day as well that waxing or shaving the area can be problem as the hair can be very irritating when it's short, or can get trapped under the skin and rub.

Never thought of talc, you may be onto something there, right then so far I need:-

A big padded plaster, sudacream, party feet gel pads (although my chicken fillets may do
grin.gif
) and plenty of talc and a pair of seamless keggs, (I think I'm going to need those seams at this rate.... just to hold it all in lol!)

Lets hope I never have an accident and need cutting out of my jods, what with all the goodies down there
grin.gif
blush.gif

Been there too, but got a sheepsking seat saver on my synthetic saddle which I think helps a bit. Also second the sudocreme thing (marvellous stuff), although I did see an advert on TV last night for some cream for chaffing in warm weather, can't remember what it was called though......

i have found that putting vaseline on your lady garden before you ride on hot days works a treat! Feels a bit odd and slippy but would rather odd and slippy than horrific pain!

is it called chub rub or did you make that up
grin.gif
grin.gif
- either way its a classic name!!

Cotton jodhs are a must in hot weather! I must say you lot are all very delicate in the pants department
smile.gif
I dont think I've ever suffered from chafe and I've done some loooooong rides in very hot weather and I wear a thong - always. Like Princess Sparkle I have ended up with a bruised pubic bone after I did a 30km ride in a Podium endurance saddle with my stirrups fractionally too long so I couldn't get enough suspension to get away from it
frown.gif

I would recommend staying well away from plasters of any kind. Nice cold flannel carefully applied and something soothing such as Aloe Vera gel. If you can, in the privacy of your own home, wander about without any pants on - either wear a long skirt or pj bottoms that are nice and loose.

No its not called that PMSL
laugh.gif
.....but thats what you call it when you get rubbed between your legs, but you don't have to have to have chubby legs to get it though, just sometimes peoples legs rub together at the top of the inside of your thighs.

You know what.....I have NEVER in all my born days had fanny chaff......now you are all making me wonder if I have a crap seat.......
confused.gif

.......either that or I must have toughened up my asbestos minge over the years.....
shocked.gif
grin.gif

However, if I were to be stricken down I would imagine nappy rash cream and a pair of loose cotton PJ's would do the trick (not for riding, obviously

)
