So it had been all go in Doodle land with hacking, beach rides, mounted games (even jumping occured ) until she developed an absolutely enormous haematoma on her butt ! Vet came out, stuck a needle in and confirmed that lumpybutt was indeed a haematoma rather than an abscess and said to just let her walk it off, which thankfully after a couple of days seems to have done the trick.

Whilst Mr. Vet was there we re-tested her Cushings levels to see where we are and unfortunately she is still high at about 67 :(, so we've upped her to 1.5 tablets a day and dare I say it but she seems less footy on the stones :D. So we're re-testing again in 6-8 weeks and fingers crossed her levels have come down again!

Anyway hoof pictures time :):

So asides from her frogs remaining resolutely off the ground! I think she's doing ok, and to me her feet look 100x stronger and healthier than what we started with at the beginning of the year :).

:D. Ok they are never going to win prettiest foot awards heel wise but look where that breakover will be when she's done.

I'm curious what your vet thinks of her feet?

Great progress pictures Alex. They look stronger than before. Do you think the frog will ever get any shorter in length? Her feet are very similar to my boy's. We have shoes off all round now, but we've not done much work so far without them.

Long frogs aren't really bad, they indicate a nice short breakover. I think what makes doodles look longer is there lack of width at the heel, because it isn't really engaged and functioning as it should so they look long and slim.

Once that last bit has grown through you HAVE to do side by side before and afters! :D

Haha can do though I was rubbish and didn't get a proper before pictures but it should still show the change!

 what do you mean her feet aren't pretty . But yes her hoof stamp is so much better and shod really help her movement! Vet didn't say much really he likes what she's doing, but then we got distracted by the lumpybutt so didn't talk it through fully. When he comes back out I'm going to quiz him more.

I'm hoping her frog will stay that long but ideally widen out more! Her heels have unclenched loads but I'd love a bit more beefing up to happen.

Saw your post, slow and steady worked for us we kept on hacking with boots on but as we were recovering from injury we were only walking anyway.

:( I keep telling her she needs to start using them but she's just not fancying it yet ;). I think now she's less footy we can do more minus boots and hopefully get those frogs working more!

Only her heels aren't pretty ;). They are unlikely to ever look like the perfect hoof but comfy = just fine :)

She'll get a complex about her heels, all of her is pretty ;). We'll be happy with comfy, I'd like her perfect on all surfaces but not sure we're going to quite get there...

I think if you can get her able to do more self trimming her feet will improve more. Look forward to seeing it.

I reckon Daisy grows a full new foot every 4 months now, probably quicker when in really hard work. She had an event line when I broke my ribs (kind of her to mark the occasion) which, as she doesn't eat grass, get wormed or have any changes in her life I believe could only be due to her work load dropping off sharply at that time. It's quite amazing really how much their feet reflect life.

That is very sweet of her to mark the occasion :D!

Yes I think it would too, really the more stimulation the better, but we have been a bit lazy and she is a little footy on stones still so we've been happy to just have her sound in the field after last year :o. I promise I'll shape myself and get her out over more surfaces!
