Hi all, I'm looking for a dressage girth. Needs to be really good quality soft leather or have a sheepskin cover available to buy. I've been looking at either the Stubben Equi Soft or Fairfax. I've currently got a PDS relief dressage girth but it rubs and I can't find a cover for it. I've got a budget of £250, open to suggestions. Thanks!

fairfax is fab... very stable - just get the right one for your horse! if in doubt go for the narrow gauge one.

Thanks for your reply! I've found my girth can sometimes slip back so was hoping how the Fairfax is shaped would help stop this. I'm fairly sure my horse isn't a narrow because I can get a sweat scraper between his front legs?

Just done a quick google, are the prolite girths the exact same? Seems as though the Fairfax is lined with prolite anyway but a big difference in price.

The fairfax are leather but otherwise same design. i have one of each and the prolite is a decent girth. Just sponge it off every time you use it, mine gets hard if the sweat dries on (though it softens up quickly when clean ;) )

Thanks for your reply! Do you find either of them rub? My horse is sensitive so was looking at getting a sheepskin cover anyway. Do you prefer the prolite or the Fairfax?

Don't really have a preference tbh, I bought the fairfax first before the prolite came out and I have been happy with it, I did see (on video) a difference in my horse's way of going which is what prompted me to buy it. Mine is good quality leather and I only need a sheepskin at the end of the winter as her coat is particularly poor around february time!

I bought the prolite for my other horse, she needed a narrow gauge and I wasn't able to stretch to another fairfax. I haven't found it has rubbed at all, the fit is really good for both of mine.

I've got a Bliss girth (Bliss of London) and it is lovely soft supple leather, very flexible. I don't need a fluffy cover with it. Tried the Prolite and shape wasn't right for my horse. The Bliss is pricey, more expensive than prolite, but less than fairfax.
