Hello! I am after a bit of advice as to what is correct for unaffiliated dressage. I think I am finally going to brave it and have a go in the next couple of months. However I only have a green tweed jacket. What stock is appropriate for this? I do have a green and white (white shoulders and top of chest) derby house show shirt, but would this be ok with tweed? I have managed to secure some beige breeches. 😅

At affiliated you don't even have to wear a jacket except for a championship show. They have also relaxed the rules on the colour of breeches that you can wear.

I used to wear a tweed jacket with a shirt and co-ordinated tie.

Gloves - don't have to be white - have to be worn.

If you would like a stock, here are some ideas:

or if you fancy something brighter/more unusual:

If you haven't tied a stock before practice in front of a mirror, it really isn't as difficult as people imagine!

I love Topstocks, I so wish I had occasion to wear a stock!

I would add hairnet to the list OP if your hair needs it. The only photos I have of me vaguely dressed up for riding, my hair came loose of the bun I'd tied and a hairnet would have just tidied it up nicely.

I've just discovered top stocks and it looks like a dangerous website 🤣🤣

Yeah I have lots of curly hair so that may be required!

They are gorgeous!

Tweed is perfectly OK - it used to correct up to Novice years ago anyways, I've certainly worn it with my natives.
If it is the tweed in your pic that will look grand. Either wear your showing shirt and tie or a coloured stock, there are some gorgeous ones about. Don't worry too much about shirt as it will hardly be seen with stock and jacket.

It is the jacket in the picture 😄 thank you! I'm more set than I thought! Hopefully will get somewhere in September 🥰

Thank you everyone for all your help! I'm pleased to report that I overcame my fear of riding in front of a judge, and Finn was an absolute saint!

We got a score of 60.08% in both tests, placing us 4th out of 10 in one and 6th out of 12 in the other. I am particularly pleased as all didn't go to plan and we got there later than intended, amd when we got off the trailer the heavens opened and all parties got absolutely drenched, which slowed everything down still so I only managed 5 minutes warm up.

None of this phased Finn, but it just meant he wasnt supple enough, but his behaviour was impeccable.
