have finally organised a DR saddle for V....and rode in it today...he seemed to like it but it felt really odd! not ridden in a DR saddle for over 12 months (have been doing everything in my jump saddle) and i felt like i was wobbling about everywhere! will this just get better in time?

I feel like that when i get on a gp saddle!! Its never got easier and i only use my gp for shows when i have to - the rest of the time its a dressage saddle.
I suppose if you use it every day you will soon adjust....hopefully!

I found this when i first bought mine....felt very odd and like I couldn't ride- just try and use it as much as you can and i'm sure you will start to feel more comfortable!

Mhm, it happens with me a lot!! For me it's especially bad with my diaphragm and stomach, I feel really wobbly there, and am forever getting told off by my instructor about it when using a dressage saddle! :D xx

I hate to say it, but take your stirrups away - I find that gets me settled in a different saddle faster than anything else.

I am trying dressage saddles out at the mo and it feels really weird as I have ridden in my Ideal Grandee for so long now. I'm sure it will get easier!

I hate my dressage saddle, I feel like I can't ride in it, and have never really taken to it. Since it came with Ballet, I feel I have to use it, but yes the more I use it I do feel slightly better in it.

alas not really an option with V...he has a wicked bronk, spin, spook combo and is uber sensitive to where you are on him so i think me bouncing about on him with no stirrups would mean a quick trip to A&E.... but i agree that would be the best thing to do

umm, did you get to try a few, or is it a done deal now? because the right one for you will just feel as if it has been built around you, will make it easy to relax into the right position, imho. (although, i'm used to dr saddles now, can't really remember what it felt like to ride in 1 for the first time, prob very weird!)

I can remember first time I rode in one (bout a year ago!)

and loved it and felt very easy and comfy straight away

sorry that doesnt help you op!

the saddle is defo ok for me...its my old saddle which has had its tree changed and been reflocked for V :D I had the saddle M2M for me and my old horse a few years back and its a lovely saddle to ride in....its more my legs, they are uncontrollable at the best of times and i think i've gotten a bit lazy in my jump saddle (other horse has a Kontact so, again, short stirrups, lots of blocks to keep me controlled)...i think i'll be ok when i get used to riding a bit longer again...one thing i did notice was that i sat up straighter straight away- have a tendency in the jump to lean forward quite badly- would have just fallen staight off today if i'd done that
