Ive never been interested in dressage, but having got the sweetest youngster who has taken to eventing rather well (apart from dressage!) I am looking to spend more time in this area.

I don't think my position is amazing as I tend to tilt forward, and also I struggle with my hips (from an old fall injury!)

I know a saddle isn't going to be the shortcut to everything, but considering purchasing a dressage saddle for that phase which may pop me in a better position, although coming from a jumping background, I really need to keep knee rolls- so the bigger the better for security on my baby pony!

So, recommendations please? Horse is ID x TB so need MW/ W 17.5

What brands would you suggest!? Thanks

I would consider asking for recommendations for a good fitter, the fit on the horse is paramount so lots of recommendations won't work for the horse, then there are your preferences, and you can have a brand that lots recommend but doesn't have a great fitter in your area.

This, I would also suggest that you are very careful about getting one with big knee rolls as they will hold you in what could become a very uncomfortable position, one of my owners has hip problems and was crippled by any dressage saddle that fixed her in a position, she bought an Ideal Jessica which has very little in front but still enabled her to sit up in a better position without making her hurt, it is a good stepping stone for someone whose position is not fully established rather than going for something that forces a position that may not suit the rider.

I would always recommend that people try a Jessica they are very forgiving of the riders position I used them for years .
They are a great first dressage saddle and supper for young horses as you can get quite short on them and a very good price for the job they do .
I now heave albions and fairfax dressage saddles I much prefer the Fairfax the albions tend to put my leg a little to far back I am 5'5 if I where two inches taller it could not happen .
