So I have this 2020 goal/dream of doing some music classes but I have no idea where to start with the music, it’s probably a bad idea as I have no musicality what so ever, I think I’m ok with designing a floor plan but have no inclination to try match and mix music. I know there are people out there that do it for you and I quite fancy going on one of these day clinics but no idea how to find them or who's best to contact.
Anyone out there already done one and could point me in a direction I’m in the Cheshire area and looking at Medium level.

Depends how much you want to spend really. There is Equivisions who run clinics around the country. And there is Sue Bradshaw who is based on the Wirral - she usually does the floor plans and Tom Hunt does the music. You can go direct to Tom for music for about £300.00.

I highly recommend Equidance, I am very happy with mine from them. I had help from them with my floorplan as I wasn't feeling very inspired, I had one done at PSG level with Stef Eardley based on our strengths and weaknesses and then sat with Tony to pick some music. He thought of things I would never have considered and I love riding to my music. Their prices are on the website and they go up by the levels but if you already have a floorplan that you can video and send to them I think Tony would just do the music if you wanted to keep the costs down.

Plenty of people do their own, but the pros do an excellent job for you if you don't want the faff or need some ideas.

I got one that was ready done. Trainer was dubious, but we went into the 20 X 60 and pressed play and she read the test. Even with no prep, it fitted!

They did several different tests per level, loads of different musics, then 3 speeds for each music/test combination.

Once I had picked a test that would play to our strengths, the music that I preferred, I got a video of my horse at a test, played a bit of each pace with each music speed and discovered that she may be 15.3 but is best with the big horse speed!

I think from memory the whole thing cost around £70, with the printed test, 2 CDS with stickers and the paperwork to register.

I've used Equidance and found them very good, what I particularly like is the way the music changes so it's easy to know where you are and you can prepare for the transitions properly. Just need to get out and do it now!

I’ve just done my first test to music, was only a fun one so I did my own using the free software on the Apple Mac. It was surprisingly easy to do and I managed a medley. Now I’ve got a taste for it I think I might try another one!

How long approx does the process with equidance take?
You can pay extra for a fast track but I didn't bother with that. I got my floorplan done then got a video to send to Equidance. Tony contacted me and asked about preferences for music and he sent me some ideas pretty quickly. I chose the walk trot and canter music and Tony did a fab job of matching it to the video. It took about two weeks between choosing the music and getting the finished product but it will depend on how busy he is.

Thank you everyone for your help, had a look at the equidance website and definitely worth a call with them I think.

Thank you OP and for all the replies. I’m being cheeky and commenting so that I can find this when I get round to trying some music classes...hopefully soon
