Hello there,
I having a go at dressage to music and have done my floor plan and also my music courtesy of a good friend who happens to have a music studio as a sideline.
I love my music, but the downbeat isn’t a regular perfect match in a 1,2,1,2 sense, although I feel
It works really nicely.
For all you dressage to music fans, is this a real problem or is the music really about finding something you like and the overall performance?
Many thanks

I've only ever done it as a fun outing rather than trying to get to the nationals. for me what is important is something i love riding to (as it makes me ride better) that suits your horse.
you'd probably get more marks for a perfect match. So i guess... what are you wanting to get out of it?

Definitely doing for fun, however who doesn’t like being competitive. I’m just wondering for future reference if you’d score more highly with it being a perfect match with the beat. I’ve gone for music i like and which suits us as a partnership - fun and easy going.

If your friend has done the music they should be able adjust the rhythm so its matches.
As long as you're not changing it by too many bpm, then it should be ok.
I often tweak the speed by a few bpm to get it right.

I've always wanted to do dressage to music but never had the chance. I always thought this would be a nice tune but I think it would be a bit too slow in reality. I was brought up on James Last and Richard Clayderman thanks to Mum who used to have the 'music centre' on speakers throughout the house when she was doing the housework! I love it around 1.45
