So despite the heinous weather, the naglet and I went off to try our hand at two novice tests. I've been really pleased with how he's been going at home and really this winter I want him to realise he can't switch off in the arena just coz I have no whip!
So first up N21 - he warmed up beautifully in a rare dry spell, went in and did what felt like a really nice test compared with how he goes over the summer eventing - it felt heaps better.
So I was disappointed to get only 60% which is about what we've been getting all summer, still more work needed clearly.
Then N22 - the heavens opened, think horizontal icy rain, I kept having to ask my caller to repeat the movements as it was like riding in a windtunnel, and he understandably felt worse than in the first test. I also managed to drop my whip very near the beginning of the test so my legs hurt like hell by the end!
So imagine my shock (and delight) to discover we had over 69% and had won the class! That's my first ever win on him - bless!
Good pony! Now to up the scores a bit more consistently - the comments were very similar for both tests so I am working on the right things it seems.
