So despite the heinous weather, the naglet and I went off to try our hand at two novice tests. I've been really pleased with how he's been going at home and really this winter I want him to realise he can't switch off in the arena just coz I have no whip!

So first up N21 - he warmed up beautifully in a rare dry spell, went in and did what felt like a really nice test compared with how he goes over the summer eventing - it felt heaps better.

So I was disappointed to get only 60% which is about what we've been getting all summer, still more work needed clearly.

Then N22 - the heavens opened, think horizontal icy rain, I kept having to ask my caller to repeat the movements as it was like riding in a windtunnel, and he understandably felt worse than in the first test. I also managed to drop my whip very near the beginning of the test so my legs hurt like hell by the end!

So imagine my shock (and delight) to discover we had over 69% and had won the class! That's my first ever win on him - bless!

Good pony! Now to up the scores a bit more consistently - the comments were very similar for both tests so I am working on the right things it seems.

Wowee!!
Boysie the winning dressage pony.
Watch out- you'll take up dressage if this continues-fate worse than death

No chance! I suspect having come off the lorry and realised where he was he became resigned to his fate as he knew there are never any jumps there! It was only unaff, but a good class to do as he was up against some very established horses as it was pick & mix up to advanced medium, so listed judges are used too. Love the venue and have a lot of respect for all the judges they use, so very heartening for me to feel like my work is slowly paying off.

Will you take William for schooling? See, knock the spots off everyone on your second go!

Now I know you are joking - you are a far better rider than me! Three years ago I had no idea how to ride a horse in a proper frame!!

Well Done.

I couldn't face riding today - it was way too wet, so to actually do dressage with no prospect of jumping in the rain - you must be very dedicated!

He is in dressage boot camp as I want to do well next year! I am sick of coming 20th or thereabouts, so he gets no fun until his dressage is spot on at novice level! That's a lie actually as we're off to the Hand on Wednesday! I can't face a whole winter of just dressage...

FANTASTIC! Well done, so pleased for you and the B man!!
Brilliant scores!

Tigers eye- do you mean Sheena Kobooka kazooka thingy place?!

Kozuba Kozubska

, yes I do, Equisense... Used to go there as was jsut down the road from us. I remember once boxing to a lesson there and it snowed whilst we were riding, when we left and tried to get up the ungritted hill (which neither Somerset nor Wiltshire council saw fit to take responsibility for) the lorry went all over the place, including sliding back down the hill with the handbrake on and two rather valuable aninmals in the back and me standing behind it

!

Oh, nope, I went north today rather than south! SKKs place is too much of a trek from Gloucestershire for me (it's near where my parents live and the roads round there are dreadful for lorries, takes me ages to drive there in the car!).

Today we played the 'eventer goes to do dressage' game with:
black bridle, but very brown drop noseband and too big kieffer bling browband! He looked a bit of a state I'm afraid! The whole kieffer bridle much to my disappointment is going to have to go on ebay as despite my best efforts, it does not fit him!

Thanks BBs and Christmas-Derby - Fiona, maybe that's it, maybe she couldn't see us?!

Personally I suspect he overheard my muttered threats about never going eventing again unless he pulled his socks up!

If threats work, must try that on Sophie and/or OH. He thinks he's done brilliantly if he gets less then 40 pen, but I know she can do so much better.
V brave of you to go anywhere in today's weather, so well deserved rosette!!!

Fiona

Try it on the OH as I have been threatening myself lately! I can't face a life without eventing, but equally I cannot keep throwing marks away on such a super little horse so I too need to pull my socks up as he is capable of far better than 40s+ and does not deserve me letting him down!

That kinda % is nothing to be sniffed at...Just dont come up London way ok!!...I would love to do eventing but must admit lost my balls... not that I physically had any in the beginning but I am sure you know what I mean.. and yes... unfortunately I am too precise about my boy I have.... having lost 2 and never got anywhere in competitions........maybe I might get another one day to event!!!!!!! If I win the lottery......!!!! Anyways.....Enjoy your win!!!!!!! Many more to come..... maybe we can convert you!!!!!!!! LOL!!!!!!!!!! Doubt it eh??!!!!!!!!!

LOL freestyler you have nothing to fear from me I promise! Your chap would seriously outclass my TBX - he's not built for dressage and is quite clearly an eventer, but he needs to practice and so do I!! No chance of converting us totally, I love the XC so much (well on him I do!)

Just noticed my spelling! Tut!! Should have said Precious.. not precise..!! (ummmmm... glass of wine and big slippers mode!).. ah well, if we cannot convert you.!!!.. keep up the good work and enjoy!! Dressage can be very rewarding although XC is fun!

Does that mean you have to check the weather before events now then?

Seriously very well done, if you can get a few days like this under your belt you'll ride down the centre line eventing looking like a winner.
If the weather was similar to here I would have gone home...(or stayed in the lorry while C rode)

well done, now didn't you win dosh aswell? and you're better that me, cos i didn't do my comp. As got to yard and it was howlin gale and lashing with rain, and i just put gg outs in field
