As title really, just got my times for my test on Saturday and counted 26 in class which seems huge to me and is definately the biggest class i've ever competed in. So wondered what others thought, is that quite big or the norm for most people.

9 so far :D

we are taking the "baby" to a qualifier on sat tho, only for experience we dont stand a chance at getting placed - i expect it to be heaving!

Just over 40 is the most I have had in a class - tbh it makes no odds to me as the number warming up with you will be consistent because of peoples times regardless of the test they are riding, and my %s are/are not an improvement against our previous results - not affected by how many are in the class. We generally don't trouble the top 3 so I'm not ever so fussed about the placing either!

A local centre that used to run trailblazers dressage (now closed) often had 40 in each prelim class and 25+ in novice. They had to limit entries and if you wanted to get in the prelim you couldn't leave it until near closing date to get a place.

Found round here BD classes tend to be much smaller, although last week prelims had 18 - 20 in. Unaff/RC always tends to be well supported. That said we don't have a great deal of choice, hence why they are probably generally well attended.

Both inter-schools dressage and trailblazers regionals at prelim level had around 50 in :) 25-30 is not exceptional for unaff prelim round here IME.

When OH was starting out at prelim there would often be 25-30 in the class.
Now she's playing at Adv.med she's lucky if there are 4 in it (2 at the last comp). :o
The biggest classes she has competed in tend to be at Area Festivals with 40 plus.

Fairly common occurence to have 20+ competitors in my area in Prelims/WT classes. Biggest class I was in though was at BRC - 35 just in my arena and about 200 overall.

So 26 is actually quite small :D

Comps are run at the yard i am based at, and I am part of the team who help run it on the day so its good that numbers are increasing, maybe it means we are doing a good job. I normally write for the judge or do scores so am glad am actually entered in the biggest class, less writing/adding up for me as only 7 in Novice and 2 in Elementary which will be the ones I will be responsible for.

I remember having to enter as many BD competitions as possible as you quite often got balloted out when they were oversubscribed, usually at around 40 entrants. That's not a problem now, although it's probably more to do with the number of venues hosting events now.

I'm not sure about the number but one class I did went on for about 4.5hours

To be fair showjumping bsja at lower level is much worse for enormous number of competitors so dressage normally looks empty to me now!

There were 38 in my arena in the BRC L&SE qualifier this summer.

Other than that, AF's normally around the 30 mark and once had around 30 in a bog standard BD (Merrist Wood).

Usually though it's 4-12 ish for BD

As far as I know at BD judges are only allowed to judge a certain number per day - think it's around 40, though that can be in one class of spread over several smaller classes. I don't know if this changes for champs etc.

Round here BD classes can be anything between 5-25 depending on test/level/day of the week.

BD have a max number of competitors for each test which is usually between 28 and 32, but you can have more than the max number with the judge's permission.

I've competed against 25-30 people in the prelim championship at my riding club a few weeks ago. I also went to the BRC Nationals in Sept so competed against about 100 or so people there.
