I hope anyone who has to, reports the said people to the police!

Having a lovely hack and first time on the road since last year and nearly got run into! Everything caught on my helmet cam, so we turned around and called the police immediately! The person in the work pick up drove at speed toward me even after me waving my hand and shouting slow down! He looked at me gave me the finger and told me to eff off!!!

BB was a superstar, a really brave calm boy.

So proud of him,❤

I got the same camera for Xmas but have yet to report anyone. If anyone was rude to me then they would be. Some people slow down when they see the camera but I’ve still had a few going too fast or close. I did put these photos on a local site recently hoping someone would know who it was and have a quiet word (a learner skimming past my horse when there was plenty of room and a clear view ahead).

One of the reasons I just can’t hack on the roads anymore. My lad can be a bit jumpy especially with bikes and motorbikes. My last yard I had to leave simply because the hacking was far too busy thanks to the guided bus route that had been built.

I’ve reported two caught on camera and been told that ‘action has been taken’ in the form of a written warning, points on their licence or a fine.

Both were driving close enough that if I’d stuck my leg out a few inches I’d have hit the car.

I’m lucky in that my cob is as traffic proof as they come so doesn’t give a monkeys but obviously a) the driver doesn’t know that, b) whilst he doesn’t care about the cars, it’ll be the pigeon flying out of the hedge or similar that makes him take a sideways step that means we get hit.

I have only started going out on the road again the last month or so and have already had two people fly past then very obviously go "oh sh*t she does actually have a camera" (as it says on the back of my hi vis!) and slow down once they're past 😂 they weren't bad enough I felt the need to report but I hope they were.nervous about it for days.

All my horses have had a different approach to A hole drivers. They have all also been entirely different characters. Starlight ,a pretty name for an mobster! gave as good as he got. A kid on a moped tried to spook him and cause an accident . Revving and shooting up behind him ,going away then trying again . A hole didn't recon on the branch I broke off a tree. Got him right across the visor of his helmet , twat nearly dropped his bike. While he was cursing and screaming ,Starlight just hopped onto a bank , daring him to come on foot! Fleagle was the quiet man but very very dangerous. Probably lived in Hereford! Took out a drivers side window when they passed too close. Lance . well he was just bad news . Someone parked across a horse path on Eversley forest . Lance reconfigured the entire door pillar by six inches. Tried to report it but no one came forward . My best guess was that someone was strolling with someone they shouldn't t have been with and didn't want embarrassing questions. Which leaves us Bob. Sadly if Bob were human ,he would wear a tweed jacket with leather patches on the elbows and resort to "encounter groups"

This has made me laugh so much 😂 not sure what bb would do with the noise of whacking a window we may need to practise on trees lol, Ive never used a whip on him 😂

If the guy hadnt given me the finger and told me to eff off I probably wouldn’t report him because errors can be made, someone might be too slow at slowing down or pass at speed before they realise but that behaviour to me , will get someone else up the road knocked of their horse, not on 😑

Sadly I have a 300 m stretch of 50 mph road to go on before reaching nice bridleways. I report c.1 driver a week to the police with my hat cam.
The West Yorkshire system is fully automated, fill in a form, upload the video - all in takes about 10 minues. About 3 days later you get an email saying they are following it up.

The police publish the outcomes in general and 70% of submissions result in a letter and fine, repeat offenders (a smaller percentage) get points etc.

I have also emailed Asda, the local Boiler company and the council with details of their poor drivers, I always get an extremely apologetic reply from the companies.

I think often people really don't know what a horse will do and the change to the highway code has gone unnoticed.

The 20 y/o lads talking on their phones at least have the grace to look guilty as they fly past, I have more fear of the elderly people who genuinely don't seem to see me at all.

Which camera do you use? I'm in the market for one and on a mission this summer to go after some of the crazy drivers I meet - especially the ones who pass on blind bends despite me trying to tell them something is coming the other way.

Do you find the elderly often treat you like… ‘if I dont look , your not there!’
I do , they are completely oblivious to other people, just pull out

That's the one I am thinking of. Any downsides to it?
No, absolutely none!
The pictures are clear the footage is really clear. Buy a larger gb memory card , i have a 64 but I am going to buy a larger one.
sometimes, you have to delete the app and re install it for the data to disappear. I wasnt sure if I was being a turd by doing something 😂 it does take a lot of space in your phone, thats all

Horse riders in our village were having a problem with a youth on a moped. He was revving, beeping and accelerating at us, along with making obscene hand gestures every day just after 3 pm.
It didn't take much detective work to realise he was probably travelling home from college. I mentioned this to the local police officer as he was handing out parking warnings. Impressively, the policeman took it seriously and waited for the unhinged twerp the next day. His little chat must have worked because we've never seen him since.

That’s amazing quality! And glad you’re both ok.

We’ve just moved from a yard with off road hacking, and now we have country lanes to deal with. Most drivers are ok but maybe 1 in 3 go past too close or too quick. I’ve noticed that people seem to slow down by their standards, but not to Highway Code standards - eg if they’re doing 60, they slow down to 30 and think that’s fine because they’ve slowed down. So I do wonder if we need another proper public awareness campaign that educates - especially as near my yard we’ve had soo many new estates built and a lot of people move out into the more country-ish areas. Then of course there are just the twits who don’t care and drive like idiots on purpose!

We had one the other day - very straight road, national speed limit. Had an old style Range Rover behind us and a car approaching us very quickly - you know when you can hear them accelerate? He was coming out of a 30 into the national speed limit, and if he couldn’t see us then he shouldn’t be driving😅 well the RR behind us pulled out and drove very slowly on the other side of the road and stayed there until the approaching car slowed down. Not sure if it was general big car attitude or if he did it on purpose.. but I was grateful (if not slightly worried about a head-on collision)

And here’s a stupid question - do you still thank people who don’t slow down or pass too closely?

Nope do not thank those, this guy yesterday must have passed me at 60, he did not slow down one bit. I will post the footage once the police have the information but I could have hit his side window easily! That was really kind of the RR driver!
