Have any of you seen the sort of drivers I have seen out there lately?
I live on the North Downs (very steep and dangerous hills in the ice) I drive a 4x4 and am very careful when driving. Very slowly in other words when on ice, I have been taking friend up to feed and sort her horses out on the next hill and numerous times I have seen drivers in all sorts of vehicles driving too fast, too close to the car infront (or stuck behind me) AND on their mobile phones whilst on sheet ice!!!!!!!
Anyone else seen them or is it only round here??
I have had to go up the path twice to avoid some of them out of control sliding towards me!

Yup, woman in small car on sheet ice approaching blind bend, on mobile phone...
Lad on Learner moped thing practicing skidding...

Yes, some of my friends have had that too, been overtaken in their 4x4 by ordinary 2 wheel drive cars in thick snow!
It's alright until they try to stop!
Seems to be a nationwide problem then!

yep seen some ridiculous driving, while walking to the yard saw someone in a porsche (not a clue why you'd even try and bring that out in snow) skidding all over the place yet they still continued to go up an icy hill almost hitting things as they went!

Yep, man in van approaching junction covered in ice on mobile phone and looking at me looking at him! (i was a passenger btw!)

And lorry drivers flying along. One doing at least 50mph on a road mostly clear but with patches of ice on it.

we have young lad driving there corsa/novas and desiding to do handbreak turns/donuts in the road that run up past my front windows, normally with kids in car last time here was a newborn in a car seat in there idiots

Yes, we have got loads of idiots around here.

The best one I heard was from a man delivering hay in a land rover with trailer full of hay on the back going down the lanes. Woman comes towards him, sees him, panics takes her hands off the steering wheel and puts them over her eyes, skids past him and ends up in the hedge. Do you think she should be driving!!!

Doesnt matter if there is snow and ice on the roads b'cos when there isnt you still get them, doesnt matter what the weather.

Seems to make people mad to see me in my tractor when roads are this bad slowing things up even more but most of the time its going to pull someone out a ditch or help lorrys up hills etc.

Yes they are here in hants as well

.
There were 1000 vehicles abandoned on our local A road the snow was so bad yet I was still being overtaken on my way to the yard that day!
I had one saloon car right up my arse and flashing his lights at me, untill we got to a steep hill! I cruised on up in my 4x4 but when i looked behind I saw this car struggling and he couldnt get up the hill! Revenge was sweet, I waved in my rear view mirror and carried on lol!

You are not far from me - we are on the hills too but Brasted/Ide Hill - and yes I have seen some crazy driving!

Yesterday morning I was going round some very tight bends in second gear, had some idiot up my bum, the second the road straightened up he was off overtaking me, the last I saw as he disapearred round the bend in front at god knows what speed was break lights, break lights!!! The bend was covered in ice and snow when I got there....

he was in the ditch?

No he wasnt, I didn't see him again - couldn't believe it!! I half hoped he had ended up in the ditch tbh....

However on same bend later yesterday I did see a BMW in the ditch funnily enough!

I had a slight 'near miss' this morning - our lane where the horses are is just compacted snow, was plodding along at about 15mph (its all straight luckily), and a rabbit ran out infront of me and then stopped in the middle of the lane, automatically hit my breaks (stupid stupid

) and I sort of slid forwards (luckily) over the bunny, no bump fortunately!

They are all around ..... Yesterday an a hole kept coming right up my backside in my discovery, So I slowed down even further to make the gap bigger infront of me, He obviously wasn't looking where he was going and " SLAP" into the back of me . The towbar on the disco took the bang, I had no damage whereas fella in the vectra had cracked bumper and broken number plate, He was very apologetic, probably thought I was going to claim from him

No damage to mine so not bothered, I did accept his apology but did tell him .... " perhaps not get so close next time in these conditions "

The numpties are everywhere .

I live on a hill with lots of bends on it, walked the youngest to school yesterday to my amazement drivers were going up and down the hill on a sheet of ice, at "normal" speed (which for my liking is too fast on a housing estate with loads of kids around). The best were the two that hadnt bothered to clear the ice off the windscreens, dont know how they could have seen anything!

Yep nation of...!

The roads are packed full of idiots at the best of times, but they scare the life out of me in these conditions. So many people up my bum when i'm just being safe on very dangerous roads. The main road to the motorway from the yard was lethal on wednesday night, it's normally a 40 but most people go 50+ on it. But there was that compacted thin layer of snow on it (idiot council, ever heard of GRIT?) so i was doing 20 as i could feel it getting a bit slippy occasionally, but people were clearly getting annoyed at me and overtaking then zooming off. Hope they ended up in a ditch. Plus my little car isn't as good in bad road conditions as 4x4's (which have been some of the worst offenders) so i'm obviously going to have to go slower

Always feel pressured to speed up when someone is close behind me, fine for them if they are in a car that can cope better with the conditions, but you have to drive according to the conditions and the vehicle you are in. Range Rover hassling me today on way to work but strangely enough he wasn't brave enough to overtake ......

I feel pressured to slow down when an a'hole is too close behind me.

Yes,these idiots are all around here in Cornwall too.

Yep. I was driving down the hill to my house yesterday in my 4x4, after been told that a RAC van couldn't get up it and kept slidding back down again, at about 15mph (SL is 30mph) and a little hatchback of some sort came flying down behind me and sat on my a*se. As I turned left off on my road the car followed me slidding on to the wrong side of the road and stopped next to me. Forunately I was watching them in my mirror as I have to turn immediate right to get on to my drive.
Oh and this morning I had a sports car overtake me in a 60mph ungritted B road when I was doing 55mph in the 4x4. They must of been doing 70+ to get passed me.

Alot of our hills here were shut for some of the time (tithpitshaw, burntwood lane and of course SUCCOMBS HILL which is a 25% incline!) so we had little choice on how to get up and down hills. There is a smashed up new BMW at the top of Hillbury Road going up to Warlingham, wonder what happened to them.
I don't like people intimidating me to speed up either as others have already mentioned, they get behind me in vans, ordinary cars and other 4x4's and think I am an old grandad because I am going so slowly but 4x4's (which I have) are not invincible and even we can slide around!
I'd rather get there slowly than not get there at all, I only went out to get my friend to her horses, which I felt was necessary.

Yes, loads of them in West Sussex, had 2 cars up by backside today flashing lights on a very icy one lane road. I drive a 4x4 but they are not invincible in these conditions but a lot of 4x4 drivers think they are, they think they can drive the same speed as normal simply because they have four wheel drive! It's very scary.

I am able to laugh at the silly people behind me who want to go faster. In fact my daughter finds it highly amusing counting the number of cars stuck behind slow mum. Even she is clever enough to know slow mum hasnt had a bump or fell in any ditches!

What really gets me though, is the idiots who dont give way when you are coming up a hill/slope. So then you have to stop and let them past and end up stuck yourself. Most of our roads are on a slight slope (i wont go near the steeper ones) and have cars parked on both sides where people have left them and walked home. An idiot truck diver pulled into such a road yesterday without looking, about 5 cars had to reverse a long way back down the road to let him through, took about 20mins! If he had stopped as he turned in he would have seen all the cars and we could have passed him and he could have continued down the road.
