Drumclog sections up! Roll call here!

Nothing scary there I promise! The worst fence at their ODE was the PN corner which David had kindly put a carved wooden chicken on. Needless to say DA ground to a halt 20 feet away!

Haven't seen the completed water yet, but that's never an issue for H.

Well hopefully it won't rival Scone in the tricky/big stakes, but always nice to see summat to put your mind at ease/lose sleep over the night before! ;) Hopefully she is back on form and you are all right and she will skip round happily. :)

Now the important question is- is the course a good layout for Mr FJ to run about and get photos of us at every fence?! :p

Yep it's usually a big loop, he'll probably loose you in the trees for a wee bit though.

you will be fine, drumclog much more rider and pony friendly than scone!

the big chicken on the corner did cause some bother in the unaff ODE but i think you will of probably seen it at oatridge??? they had the same one lurking in the corner of indoor arena when i had a lesson once! thats probably going to be the most interesting part about walking the course - Nesta is very good at dressing the fences!

Mr FJ should be able to get some good pics :D

really looking forward to it, getting nervous tho how sad am i, i'm only doing the 80! :)

NJ- Saz beat you to the new water complex announcement! ;) Yeah, have heard they've been working on that this year, be good to see. Hopalong is a bit of a ponce at water, but will go, so that shouldn't be a worry. I just want to get a nice, forwards run and hopefully have her feel like herself again. :)

Cheers Nic, had a nosey on the site ages ago and it does look (like kez says) like they put real effort into dressing the fences, hopefully not too spooky a Hopalong on Sat! ;)

(kez- I do know the chicken you are talking about!)

FJ - Oops, sorry for repeating old news. Haven't been following very closely since I'm not going!

Hope everyone has fun with the chicken corner. It was certainly spooky when we jumped it last year at the Area 1 qualifier (well, Alfred thought so!).

Ha ha, it's ok. It's pretty much the first thing that anyone has mentioned whenever Drumclog has been spoken about since the start of the year- I'll be disappointed if I turn up and there isn't some stinker of a massive water complex now! ;)

Hopalong seems to find "bright" fences spookier than decorations- white houses, shiny barrels etc. Although haven't jumped any chickens yet...! She didn't bat an eyelid at the stuffed dogs in the kennel fence at Strathallan though.

As far as the course goes I did it last year at the unaffiliated ODE as the FC's first ever run. Did the 3 ft Open and the only fence which caused problems was the corner with the chicken on it whilst going up hill and it made it seem alot bigger than it actually was. Back then it looked massive!!!! (I now compare everything to Eglington!!)

The reason I am doing it Saturday as thought the course was one of the nicest tracks out and so well presented. The XC ground was superb. Lots of effort goes into the course. The fences are very inviting.

My only worry is that I am hoping the SJ will not be in the same area as the unaffiliated as the ground was awful (bumpy, potholey ground and long grass) and the showjumps horrendous which resulted in scarring the FC in the SJ ring for all of last year.

I assume the BE show jumps will be used and a flater area so really looking forward to it.

Wait for it Nesta & David have probably spent all winter coming up with big scary fences!!!!

When I asked Nesta about it (granted it was a while ago) she said the sj was being moved. It was not fun the last time!

You made me a very happy person if that's the case. Maybe FJ & I will allow you to keep the bubbles for being a bearer of good news!! (Also it wasn't just me then that didn't enjoy it!!) D:D:D

The water's right next to the road, it doesn't look terrifying (I judge it on whether I'd jump it or not, and I reckon I'd have a bash!) - might be a bit 'murky' though? Some hilly bits to the one end of it - approach could be interesting. If it's a nice day I reckon I might try to pop up as it's only twenty mins up the road from me. Good luck to all HHOers - frillies all round please!

FJ - i think the chicken was borrowed as a few of the jumps came from oatridge for the RC comp i think (but i could be wrong!)

the stuffed dog was the only thing izzy looked at at strathallan, i've got a pic of it on my phone and it looks so realistic from a distance!

FC - i really hope you are right about the BE show jumps getting used, i hate those SJ at Nestas! they fall if the wind blows and are mega spooky, i'm more worried about the sj again, got a lesson tomorrow (does a sun dance) so fingers crossed! Why o why do coloured poles upset me so much

kez- I did think a lot of those fences looked very Oatridge-like! ;) I wonder if they have their own now or will be borrowing those again? (PS-
laughing.gif
at DHB being spooked by the "exploded pumkin" carrots!)

We all suffer the first two phases in order to get to the fun one, just remember that! ;)

hmmm im not sure i will fill you in after i course walk! had a wee chuckle at the exploded pumpkin comment hehe! :D

i did a training day at greenfields in june and they were building new jumps so i think some will def be there own?

sooooo true about suffering the first two phases to get to the fun bit, think Izzy agrees! :D

argh just looked at this, so where do we want a HHO parking area?! Any preference for close to dres/xc/bacon roll van :p Will make sure we stock up on choc mini rolls and other treats :D

soupdragon- that is very inconsiderate of your friend! ;) Have fun though and you will be fine at Turnberry, it sounds to me like a course that doesn't need a warm up run for it! ;

Well she was told it couldn't be Blair weekend or it would be a very quiet wedding so can't complain too much!!

Thanks FJ - hurrah for times being up early.

Looks like a loooong gap between dressage and SJ so I have time to psyche myself up ;)

Looking forward to seeing and meeting you all. :)

Thanks FJ that's so so kind, but if you need to get H home and tucked up in bed that is ok too. I don't want to be a pain...

My new saddle feels nice and secure and fits M a treat. My instructor laughed at me tonight for persisting for so long with my GFS VSD. Am thinking about SJing in my body protector (I know, I'm a wimp) but I have the airowear one with built in shoulders and run the risk of looking like a tweed american football player. Oh well, no time for vanity!!

As kirkton will vouch for, I can usually be found mooching about as one of the last on site, even if my class is first of the day! ;) Hopalong is more than happy to graze or stand on the trailer and munch hay, plus Mr FJ needs to hang around to take photos anyway. :)

Wear whatever makes you feel more confident- if that means all-American footballer look, then so be it! :) Glad new saddle is good- is it a jump saddle? They do feel miles better to jump in than GPs, so this should also give you lots of extra confidence. :)
