Any idea what this could be? We moved yards two weeks ago and it came up 1-2 days after. I don’t believe it’s from his bridle rubbing because: A) he’s hardly been ridden in a month and B) it’s the same tack etc.

He did rear up in the lorry when we moved him, so at first I thought it could be some kind of knock/graze. His eyelashes are also a bit flaky on that side. Could it be a seasonal thing, coat change = itchy?

Other factors I’ve considered — the exact same bedding from the same supplier, he’s now on (gorgeous quality) hay instead of haylage. He’s fed Pure Easy with some Aloe Juice (aloe has been for the last 4 weeks) and oily herbs, as and when I remember to put some in. He’s rising 5. I’ve known him a year and this is a new occurrence.

Thank you for any insight!

Whose headcollar is being used on him, or who has his been used on? It's a classic place for ringworm transfer.

Yes, I did think could it be ringworm…

His own headcollar and horses at our new place have no signs. Small herd of 6 others.

You won't see the spores on headcollars they are too small and hide in the surface. The other horses could be immune and show no signs but it can be in their headcollars and that's such a giveaway of a place to get it.

I had similar a couple of months ago - Vet told me to test for ringworm just in case and it cleared up so can’t hurt treating it just in case. You can pick it up at most horse shops/mole valley do it. You don’t need a prescription.
