Dubarrys- are the worth it?

I adore mine but they are at the end of their life. They've been repaired once about 2 years ago but are now no longer waterproof! They are 5 years old and have had a very hard life but have been looked after. I wear mine riding out but have my jeans down over the outside of them and then stirrup leathers can't rub them. However I only usually wear them riding out up short or hacking. When schooling my own mare I wear boots and chaps. TBH I have heard the rumours re cheaper materials being used to make them etc but find it hard to believe....they have never changed the shoe material etc so why would they bother change the boots

I love Dubarry's and think they are very smart, not only for at the yard but fashionable enough to wear elsewhere too. However I think the soles are probably too thick and wide for riding in. I own some Ryedale look alikes which are very similar and half the price

I have a pair of Derby House Country boots which I bought for about £50 which I've had for a few yrs and worn everyday except last 2 months when I got some Hunter wellies. They've lasted really well and look like Dubarry boots. Derby house don't seem to make them anymore though :( so can't replace them.

Yes definitley, really rate them and have tried them in all weathers now.

Re: whoever said soles that are too wide to ride in, they're not meant to be ridden in (well the Clare style ones are, not the Galways...). Cost wise, anything that involves Goretex will add £100, it's why Musto sailing/riding coats are so expensive too.
