He's a russian dwarf called Cedric ? he's pretty brave already and has had a little sit on my hand, considering he only came here saturday it's pretty good going! He's just so cute. Neville the cat is intrigued but not too fussed luckily.

Working again so will live vicariously through you lot. However a friend has offered to come yell at me on Sunday so that will be something at least ?

I can oblige with a picture of last weekend though. We rarely have photos of us so I went and bought four of course ? such a cute fluffy muddy pony amongst those fancy warmbloods.

Decided to not be a fair weather rider and set up a few fences to pop over, in the pouring rain, remembering my goal of working towards confidently jumping a 1m course. My pal came up with my and did some adjusting as we went and we finished with 1.10m oxer!!!! I am ecstatic ? highest I have jumped in a long, long time and horse made it so easy for me. Flippin love him!!!

Eeeee I had two fab hacks today! With RS in the morning. Felt nervous heading out, alright on the road (and path over the M25!) for some reason then nervous when we got trotting through the woods and thought 'crap maybe I just don't like hacking?!' but of course you have to keep going. First couple of canters B didn't really get going, by which time I was actually enjoying myself then though 'crap I thought we'd do more canter!' Lucky for me there was a final longer stretch, got one hand on neck strap and just absolutely loved it. I'm going to book in again and just keep adding good experiences of hacking to the pile until it's not a 'thing' any more. Even considering booking a lesson involving poles, potentially ones raised off the floor, I'm on a roll so making the most of it :)

Then out with my friend this afternoon on one of hers, just a short loop with lots of trotting. All new terrain for me as first time out from new yard. The horses seemed to really enjoy exploring the new area. Couple of 'looky' moments (suspicious looking pond!) but H is a good boy and I'm feeling so much more secure in the saddle and able to give him a scratch of encouragement and say 'on we go!'

Tomorrow off to showjumping championships (to spectate obviously, not on that much of a roll!)

Nothing doing here.

As well as all the delightful rain, its also blowing a hooly. The joys of living on a hill!

I don't feel my youngster is established enough to ride in strong winds. Definitely not hacking anyway! I think I'll try some polework in hand and if he isn't being daft ill hop on and see how we go.

Pic below of my beautiful boy. Cows have just been turned out in the next field and he thinks they're absolutely fascinating!

I am glad to hear that the injury is superficial Sprat - it looks sore though poor girl. :(

Absolutely thrilled with Maddie for smashing our previous Area Festival score and getting 67.22% and 9th place in a large class. I did have a few moments of doubt when I got on her and took her into the arena walk - she was literally bouncing and looking at absolutely everything, but I decided that at least one of us needed to pull their brave pants firmly on, and it was most definitely not going to be her!! I rode every step of the test. Our canter work got a little flat and hurried as I was determined not to let her break, and our stretchy trot needed to be more stretchy, but we got lots of 7.5s and an 8, plus some lovely comments from the judges, one of whom had us 4th on 70.41%. Thank you to Onley EC for putting on such a well run and friendly competition. Definitely feeling the love for my pony right now, especially considering this was only our fifth competitive outing together. The rest of the weekend is definitely going to be a quiet one - I find doing away trips single handed pretty tiring!! Hope everyone has a great time whatever you are up to.

I was going to apologise for picture spam, but it seems I don't need to!!

Well, the weather sorted my plans out, the RC cancelled the sj comp 1st thing, roads are still awash even now and it stopped monsooning about 10.30 but was throwing it down from early hours. The parking alone would have been a quagmire in a short time!

Sitting chewing my nails waiting for a week to see if Deza passes the vet...... Don't want to jinx it by giving any more detail but this is going to be a very special partnership if everything goes through.

Looks fantastic nikicb - well done!

Fingers crossed for Deza's vetting ycbm.

When I got to my lesson I discovered that we were actually in the outdoor arena and then the heavens promptly opened and we got rained on for the whole session, ho hum . However, was a fab session. I took Arts in the end and we were working on the roundness through transitions, working towards trying to get some clean, easy simple changes. She tried very hard and we are definitely getting there with the softness and balance.

OH came with today and took a few blurry, far away pics:

Good luck everyone who is competing!

Managed to get some ground crew to go XC today after all. Honestly he was a bit of a brat. He was really good the last time we went XC so wasn’t expecting such a drama this time ??‍♀️ I suspect various factors going into said bratty behaviour, and it is (probably) only his second time XC. But I’d prefer not to have his sizeable shoulders used against me, and some more steering, a little less random leaping and less time going sideways at speed would be nice…

On the plus side, it doesn’t appear to bother him too much which jump you put in front of him, he’ll be a brat if he wants whether it’s 40cm or 85cm. and we did have some good moments where we strung a few fences together very nicely!

I think this is just going to be his evasion tactic and I just need to learn how best to deal with it. He tried it on in the school about 10d ago, but after some stern words he’s not tried again. Apparently we need to practice in open spaces. Frustrating day, but also educational for both of us. Hoping to arrange to go back in a couple of weeks to try again.

Gratuitous beach photo from a few weeks ago, because I’ve only just been sent it and he is just so handsome ?

We got our first placing at a one day! 9th at cholmondeley. We would have been second without xc time penalties, but I did get lost briefly, the ground didn't suit us really and we've gone from a minute over time to about 35 seconds so I'm super pleased with him. I honestly thought we'd get E'd somewhere, even the sj was on grass which doesn't suit us at all.
And we packed the wrong bridle for dressage so we had to go round in a borrowed rubber snaffle ?. His owner packed my double and I'd leant the snaffle to a friend to try so I only had the curb bit on it ?

sounds like some successful weekends already :)

I had the best ride of the year so far yesterday and little Kira well and truly found the passage button, we practiced a little of what we started on Wednesday in our lesson and it suddenly all the pieces fell into place. I had 20 mins of prancing about and then got off to hug her because she had just been so wonderful i didn't want to start anything else. I've now got that weird butterflies feeling about riding tomorrow... will we be able to do it again?! I must remember not to heap the pressure on. She's done it once, she will do it again. even if it's not tomorrow.

anyway, today was hacking club. managed to get a brief dry spell in between torrential showers. Looking out across the Severn from the top of the hill :)

Been reading your posts but not had anything to contribute! Rose will start some work on Monday, just a month of hand walking with probably lots of sedalin! She's been really good on complete box rest. I've been cold hosing most days but after 8 weeks there's very little reduction in the swelling and it's now nearly 5 months from the initial small injury to her hock. I'll get her checked by the vet, who is currently in Tokyo, before starting any ridden work and we'll see. My sharer had her horse pts this week as he'd deteriorated so it's been a sad time but she's keen to help me bring Rose back into work (if we can). Rose looks awful, she's lost all her muscle but hopefully if she's ok, she'll put that back on quite quickly. I am enjoying riding my friend's mare so looking to our next hack. Congrats to Ownedbyaconnie, so pleased it all went well.

My first weekend as a mummy. Going to see the pony for the first time since last week tomorrow. Then just continuing to try and get as much sleep as possible with a newborn!

You sound like you are doing an amazing job if you can even think of doing something and write in coherent sentences!! Hope you are enjoying your gorgeous (but very hard work) newborn :) :) .

That is so lovely to read - Bravo clever Kira (and super helpful rider lol!!). What a feeling that must be for you and amazing achievement. I bet she won't stop offering passage now haha.

Thank you ? it's been very hard won, we've both had some personal demons to tackle with it so I was absolutely chuffed to feel her finally truly understanding and willingly having a proper go. I have promised not to moan if she forgets how to trot now ;)
