Early stage questions...

Hi, havnt got my book in post yet to read about it all but please can somone on here help me. Mare will be 3wks pregnant this week and tonight when I brought her in, she went to have a wee in stable but it wasnt a full wee, just a small amount of liquid. Is this normal or somthing I should be watching for??

She doesnt ever show signs of season so i havnt noticed it before??? help....

Mmm - when was she scanned? Assuming 14-16 days, I'm afraid there's a chance she's coming back into season. MOST pregnancies that are lost are lost at 17+ days - the stage when the vesicle becomes implanted in the uterus (or not!) I would get her scanned again.

OH NO, i hope not

thought it was all too good to be true...was due for her next scan on 15th.

Would she so signs now though if she never has done EVER before?? could it have just been a small wee?

I'm no expert but my mare sometimes does a small wee when she comes in on a new bed as though..scenting... just to put her claim on it...but still have a chat with your vet and keep a eye on her fingers crossed all is well.

Ooh interesting you say that as it was a brand new bed she went on to last night as first night in all summer....i'm crossing my fingers that it was just that then!!!! She isnt showing any other strange signs so ill just keep my eye on her, thanks..

Honestly I know how you feel, I've done it twice now! And it didn't get any easier the second time round! The only thing you can do is quite for the next scan, you're probably noticing all kinds of things that you wouldn't normally as you're thinking about it constantly!

The first few weeks are the hardest although saying that I just had my mare checked at 5 months to make sure it was still there

I'm sure she'll be fine, yes some mares do abort but they are tougher than we think and the majority don't, so just bear that in mind.

Im new to all this too, and know exactly how you feel! My mare showed signs of being in season after her first scan. I was convinced shed lost it, but she went for the heartbeat scan last week, and alls well!

My mare is still running round the field flirting with eveything tho!!
