Earthquake - who else felt it and where are you?

I am in Suffolk, my jewellery hanging up on mirror all started rattling and I couldn't understand what was happening, I thought maybe one of the dogs was under the bedside table scratching!

My OH said it work him up - I told him not to be so silly we are too far away (Bedford) but turns out all the girls from my office felt it too. I sleep like the dead so knew nothing about it

I'm in Silchester Berkshire miles and miles away.
I heard a really loud bang this morning the dogs went mental didn't settle for at least 20 mins barking and growling.I thought it was a explosion then I wondered if we were being burgled as the dogs were so upset had a quick look around found nothing went back to sleep,to find out the news later no one else in the house woke up though

North Yorkshire just south of Middlesbrough...

I was completely terrified!

Flat out in bed, next thing I know the house starts pitching about like a ship in a storm and I thought I was having a heart attack!

To explain - we live in a victorian terrace of about 20 houses, the top 12 I'd say are 3 story and I sleep at the top of one of those, in the middle of the terrace. The whole row must have shaken and tipped backwards and forwards and I don't mean a little!

The scariest thing - there was NO noise at all, nothing has moved, not an ornament, a picture - nothing. No-one came out of the houses, no commotion, not even so much as a car alarm went off.

I went back to bed still shaking and heart racing, thinking I'd lost the plot and been hallucinating in my sleep... until I put the radio on this morning when my alarm went off!

Had a good look this morning, can't see any damage and chimney looks OK. Nags seemed fine this morning (except for Ivy the escapologist but thats a different story entirely...)

Lets just say I'd not fancy a repeat of that!

Whole house shook and seemed to last for ages, we back onto a railway track and at that time of the morning usually get the freight train going past, in my sleepy state couldn't work out why there was no engine noise!!

Yes it was felt in Notts - having lived in LA I knew immediatley what it was, hubby rolled over and went back to sleep while I paced for a while (hate them) Bumble Dog and my son did not even move.

Interestingly neither Donkey or Cloughie had eaten much haylage and when I went to the vets this morning two other peoples horses had hardly touched theirs either.

I felt it in Derby the wardrobe doors started rattling i was fast asleep and thought dog had jumped off the bed and run into them, then realised she was next to me bedside tables were rattling....scary stuff.....

None of my horses had eaten much at all.......??? wonder what they felt??

I'm near Sheffield and we felt it! I thought it was the bloke next door falling down stairs though!

My Niece is at Lincoln Uni - she said it was quite scary there - the whole building shook and they're 4 floors up!

scared the life out of me - woke up and the bed was shaking like something out of the exorcist and the house was shaking! The noise was deafening, then total silence - was really freaked out, still am a bit - phoned 999 and operator said, is this about the earthquake and told me to turn on the tv - its my first quake experience, not sure I want to have that experience again! am just north of Peterborough in Lincs

I'm at uni at nottingham - we live just outside it - under the flightpath for the airport - first i blamed my drunk flat mate for making a noise, then the people upstairs, decided it may have been an aeroplane crash!

I didn't even consider an earthquake - when i moved up north to uni i was expecting it to be colder - but not live in an earthquake zone! x

S Cambs - woken up by the bed shaking. Was v confused & concluded I must have had one of those 'falling' type of dreams, so went back to sleep.

I'm in North Shropshire and felt it here, and it even woke my son up and he can sleep for England! Thought at first it was a hurricane cos it was also very windy. Put on news early am and couldn't believe the centre was in Lincs. Thats miles away from here. Believe it was also felt over in North Wales.

Just south of York - we are having our roof replaced at the moment and I thought it was falling off - everything started shaking and felt like the house was swaying, very weird. Dogs went mad and took ages to calm them down, horse had also been pacing in his stable judging by the mess this morning

my sis is in lincoln uni as well, in the halls there!! she said if felt like building was being broken down but she said everyone seems to be ok! hope youhear from your sis soon

We're near Tadcaster in North Yorkshire and the whole house rattled.

At first in my sleepyness, I thought someone had broken in and was shaking the bed

until the OH flung himself on top of me shouting at me to keep my head down??? (ever so slightly over-reacting there!!)

Two picture fames fell off the wall and smashed everywhere and a tile came off the roof but apart from that everything was ok.

i was awake before it happened. It sounded like a plane coming down out of the sky! in Derby The whole house shook! My older mare was alittle startled this morning. But we are all ok!

I'm just outside of Blackpool and my dog barked 5 mins before it happened so I was awake and it was like a dozen little people jumping in my wardrobes!

My daughter who has her own place was sure she had been visited by a poltergeist!

I'm in Middlesex, I was awake in bed due to pain from a slipped disc and felt my bed shake and it also felt as though the chimney breast wall behind me was shaking. I even checked that the chimney breasts hadn't moved/the garage roof caved in this morning before I heard about the earthquake.

My sister and the dog slept through it, and my sister can't even remember me waking her up to see if she'd noticed anything (- dumb thing to do, as she was still asleep she obviously hadn't). Her bedroom is at the front though and her bed isn't against the chimney breast wall. She once slept through three loose horses though and I had to catch all three with just two headcollars.
