There is actually a distinct lack of eggs in this report so apologies!
Last week the countdown was on to the Winter Championships at Hartpury, we had been lucky enough to qualify for the Area Festival Finals at Medium Bronze. Preparation went well with baby Skylla firing me off in spectacular style whilst objecting to a saddle fit on Wednesday :eek3:... It then improved with a super lesson on Topaz where she remembered how to walk pirouette and half pass .
Onto Thursday and after packing what seemed like the entire contents of my house and tackroom into my 3.5t box off we went!
Arrived and settled in
Up early on the Friday for the arena walk and Topaz was feeling lovely, really relaxed and seeking the contact forwards both in the arena walk and the mooch round the warm up
.
Then a lovely few hours to watch the dressage, chill out (almost set the box on fire cooking breakfast
:eek3
and then get ready!
My lovely friends brought me a real good luck charm
Topaz then warmed up like a complete pro *so proud*
Then into the test... Unfortunately we were next to the trade stands, and whilst Topaz had been a'ok about closed trade stands, open ones with people in were just terrifying
... However I am still proud of her, she was genuinely upset but did her best to stay with me with only one slam the breaks on and snort moment
. Half the work was nice, and half the work was erm not so nice , but we got all the way through with marks ranging from a 2
to 7's
and we even managed to not be last! She did however manage to get a sneak change in, in the last medium canter
. Two out of three gave us a "poor you" comment, with the judge at C summing it up perfectly by saying "she got too hot to trot".
Pictures taken my very talented friend who managed to make us look ok, which considering the tension in the test is somewhat incredible, I think she must have used photoshop
.
We stayed the Friday so we watched the gala night of the PSG freestyle which was super and the standard so high! We came home planning Topaz's music .
Then before we left on the Sat, we thought we'd get Topaz weighed by the Spillers team and I will let you all have a guess at what you think she will weigh in at, for reference she is 15.2/3hh, I did put it on her fb page but there is a typo in it
