Easter Weekend Plans

Peaches is such a dude, FW :). And her mane is looking particularly luxurious :p.

Shame about the weather JFTD :(. I've been trying to get mine out to school over a small arena eventing course since last September but haven't managed it so far, not helped by having to cancel 4 school hires over the winter due to the ridiculous winds we've had.

Yay for the changes milliepops :). Still sending thoughts that all legs stay attached!

Well done on the frilly and score Puddleduck, the Saturday outing sounds like the last time we went dressaging and horse decided we were ~obviously~ hunting.

The dog attack sounds terrifying vallin, do you have a name or car reg number for the owner? Under the new dangerous dogs legislation it's probably worth reporting so if something happens in future there's a paper trail. Fingers crossed you and D are both OK tomorrow.

I've got a cold from hell so no riding for me today. I wasn't feeling too bad yesterday so schooled for a little while and got some really nice walk - canter and canter - walk transitions. We're not far off being ready for a novice test when the contact in canter gets a bit more consistent :).

I'm also looking for a new yard; current yard offers various services but the mucking out often looks like it's been done by a blind monkey and horses don't get seen to until midday (if not later on weekends) and I've got no confidence that they could adequately care for my horse if I was seriously ill and had to rely on the services (I'm full DIY atm). Facilities aren't being cared for (30x55m school hasn't been dragged or rolled for 6 months, horses regularly turned out on the XC course, fencing - what fencing?) and YO seems to have lost interest in the yard :(.

Good for you. I think you'd have been able to hear my Malcolm Tucker voice from Scotland.

So I'd say you were pretty restrained ;)

Perfect timing, I'm currently watching The Thick of It on Netflix ;).

Oh no Vallin, how awful. Bad news as to the cancelled comp too, although everyone else's earlier outings look FAB. JFTD your jump looks fantastic!

My weekend went to plan. New horse arrived Thursday evening, so had first full day here on Friday. We did ground work and mounting, with a bit of ridden walk. Saturday was ground work, mounting and two circuits of trot. Sun was as before, with a couple of canter circuits too :-).

Today looked like it would be a wash out, but this evening it was OK, so we did 5 minutes on the school, and went round the short block, accompanied by OH on foot. It was only 1km long, but was a real adventure for Sidney.

I am going so slowly as he has been turned away since August, out in a field no rugs or anything, and he is only 5 rising 6, so a bit wobbly anyway.

A nice start to his time with us, he has managed everything so far. He has been groomed to within an inch of his life, and has half the mane he had :-)
