Eat my dust MP! Weekend plans :D

Oh no Lev that is rubbish! Skylla had a time where no one told her about outings in case she injured herself again, so you have my every sympathy! Can we compromise on reports but not jinxing on this thread???

Sorry I am never, ever posting on this thread again :(

First week I did so, horse totally blew it at a tiny hunter trial as he was (apparently) totally over-awed by the occasion and could scarcely break out of a trot despite extensive encouragement - I think he stopped at least once at each of the 26 fences.

Second week (in this very thread) I mentioned I was going to an eventer challenge at the same venue to try and get over his nerves - after posting I even swapped to a 50cm class to encourage stepping over from a halt/walk! - and it took me an hour to get him on the trailer, by which time both he and I were so shattered I couldn't be bothered to go and compete.

I love my boy and I am very proud of him (usually!) but I shall never mention his name again in Competition Riders :D :D

Ah bad luck. Maybe post afterwards then, break the cycle !

Bit late, but we did a natural horsemanship clinic over the weekend and what a difference in 3 lessons. First lesson, disaster. He wouldnt behave at the mounting block, but the guy showed me ways to get him to behave and learn to stand still. Lesson didnt go well really and he said that my horse wasnt using his back right leg properly, but he wasnt lame or in pain, he just wasnt swinging it as much as the left. Cue me thinking, great is the kissing spine back? Checked his back for pain, nothing so put in stable and hoped for a better day the next.

Next day was awesome. Two great lessons, massive improvement in my horse and me. He wasnt moving funny anymore with the back leg, and moved even better once we corrected my dreadful position and got him working correctly. Got exercises to work on until the next clinic to improve his suppleness and work on my position to make sure it stays right.

I did manage to make a fool of myself tonight though. When trying to show my mum how to stop the horse from being bargy, I managed to trip over a hole in the ground backwards and landed on my bum at my horses feet and sprained my wrist as it took the fall. Thankfully my horse is cleverer than me and stepped away from me to not stand on his idiot owner. :P
