Have just started the mammoth task of cleaning up the stables, which I was finding a rather desolate experience.
BUT......
In the corner of the spare stable I had a pile of rugs chucked down in a heap to come up to the house for washing. On top of these I had spread all my heavy woollen day rugs as they had gotten fousty and needed to go and be cleaned......
Oh, how much I love those heavy, smelly things!
With the exception of one, those rugs have been destroyed, but underneath them the majority of the washing pile is unscathed!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
So I now have reclaimed a couple of fleeces, a couple of stable rugs, a couple of cotton summer sheets and a LW turnout, and a pair of brushing boots
They are sodden, and smelly, and mine, mine, mine!
Very sad I know, but uncovering a handful of my familiar things intact was just brilliant, as I genuinely wasn't expecting to find anything usuable. It's enough to make me feel lucky, even when stood next to the towering heap of remains of the rest of my things.
