So, my OH has pointed out it is my birthday next week (convo was "So next Friday, what do you want to do and what do you want, it can be horsey" - me: "Huh? What ARE you on about next Friday???" him: "Its your birthday" Me: "Oh sheeeeeeeesh, thought we were weeks away" !!!!)

Anyway, after MUCH thought I said I wanted some long leather boots as mine are WAY too big round the calf. Never looked for boots at Badders before - is this a good idea? OR shall I go up to Derbyhouse? Those are my only 2 options BTW unless you can think of others!
 
depending on budget Regali Ricchis are lovely had mine about 4 years now and still scrub up like new even with the abuse I put them through

About £200 new when I got them come with back zip and you can choose with or without laces. they did have a webbie but I can't find it.
 
Is there a pair that you've liked in the past, and so you get them on the net?? Also do you want a zip back?

Not much helpful boot advice I'm afraid - but you have the same birthday as me!!!

My OH said tonight he will take me for a weekend away in dublin! Yeah!
 
For Christmas (had to organise my own present aswell!!) I ordered a pair of Tuffa Norfolks on line for about £100 and I must say I couldn't recommend them more highly. They are very soft leather, very comfortable and have a side zip and stretchy bits at the back. They came up quite big in the foot (I am a size 4) so I put in some sheepskin soles (hmm lovely!) I wear them most days for exercising and they polish up lovely for hunting.
 
Sarm Hippique are fantastic & more important can be worn from day 1 with complete comfort. Not just quite as hardwearing though for every day use. Brogini are also made by same company, they are much tougher with regards to wear, & approx 1/2 price. (Brogini is Ginnette Brogans/Geof Greens(past partner's) own design she is a director of John Whitaker International) & a very astute business woman.
 
I have the Sarm Hippique with the zip. I have worn them every day for 3 years and they are still going strong, really soft and comfortable and look good with a quick polish up! 10/10
 
Yep Sarms and Regali's are the same makers, according to a person I spoke to at Badders about them, the Regalis will soften down like the sarms quickly, the only difference is the Sarms are finer leather, so are immediately soft. However, does mean they drop quickly, and can bag around the ankle.... both lovely boots though

I ride on a daily basis in my short boots and chaps, so these will only be for lessons and competing, so don't mind about the wear too much, I just want comfort AND something that comes in a size 9, accomodates my slim ankles and my calves AND are long enough - I don't want much

The sarms come up quite long I find. I have a pair of size 7's and around where the popper goes (on the outside tendon on the back of my knee) it's a bit too high and has bent down slightly but they'd probably be okay on you.
 
Don't go to Derby House!
I'm assuming that you'd be going to the Moreton Morrell one... they stock hardly anything that's in the catalogue. I was bitterly disapointed when i went, it was so much better before DH took over it. X
 
Lou, go to a shop and do the try ons. Ive done the badders thing and its a nightmare. the staff are rushed off their feet, there are far to many people around for you to get any peace or time to think and you get seriously hot and othered taking off and putting on again.

Much as I love shopping at these events its not the place for informed choices when it comes to 'big' stuff.
 
Oi you do not go picking up the only size 9s at badders. That is exactly what I am after as I had decided on SH. Though me thinks you have a lot slimmer legs!

I don't know, I reckon we are pretty much the same size!!

Thanks everyone, DEFFO going to go for SHs, just need to decide where to get them from now, though if I go to Badders on Thursday then it is pretty empty and I *should* not be rushed - wouldn't do it on the Saturday, would rather eat my own leg off

Ooh yeah, Brogini's are quite nice - I trialed some for Ginette - free boots are always good!!! And she gave some to another friend who loves them also

For competition though, Konig's ALL the way IMO
 
I tried millions on and ended up with the Koenig ones - they have zips up the side/front of the boot. This means if you damage your leg, they can get them off without damaging the boot (apparently lots of racehorse people wear the front zips according to my friend who is a trainer!) - and they were really comfortable. Dressage cut, but very smart! They are the ones on the chesnut small hunter (not the ones on the chestnut cob).
 
owww i got mine from Ayr equestrian by the way! at time was in Jersey and nothing decent in shops there in my price range. I rung Ayr on boxing day of all days (used xmas contributions

) and gave them my various leg measurements and they sent the most appropriate pair that arrived within days and were perfect fit so thumbs up for them

recently got a pair of broginis....have large feet, relatively skinny ankles regular sized calves but am 6ft - have to say I love them.....they shine up really nicely and haven't been too bad to break in
