Me and Rage are venturing between the boards for P7 at 10.07 tomorrow, the first time for either of us (Well, his first time and my first time since I was diddly!)

Any last minute pearls of wisdom from you guys?!

Good luck! Where is the competition? Just keep calm and remember that if you mess one move up it only counts for that move so it's not the end of the world. Remember loads of markets can be picked up if you ride a test accurately

Pretend the judges are not there, or they are your usual instructor.

Yes, breathe!

Yes a good one Panda - if you go wrong, or mess up one move - THAT'S just one move, and not many marks lost, absolutely.

Ride harder movements before you go in, so the horse thinks its easy, and goes more round, more off the forehand etc.

Thanks!

It's at Hartpury.
He's been going so well recently, until the last couple of days that is!

Is it compulsory for everything to go wrong in the run up?!

I've been working hard on making sure we can pick up on the easy marks through accuracy and FWLR, as I think we might need them once we get there - he's never been to a proper competition before, and would go as far as saying he hasn't been in an indoor school either!

My nice, soft, rhythmic, wannabe-dressage horse is going to revert back to his ex-racer habits!!

Arrive in plenty of time so you don't have to hurry.
Warm up your horse well & timely so when you've finished warming up you go straight in for your test.
Relax & remember to breathe as you do your test.
Don't be too proud to have a reader, even if you think you know it, they can reassure what move you are about to do is right.
If something doesn't go as planned don't dwell on it, just move on with your test.
Finally ENJOY IT.....that's what you are there for!!!

Good Luck

Thanks Phil

I think my main problem is going to be the warm-up... as he's never left home before I have absolutely no idea how long it will take! At home I just loosen up in the three paces with a bit of leg yielding and he immediately goes soft and responsive and ready to learn, but tomorrow I think will be completely different!

Am quite excited now!
