It had to be done. I've taken the feathers just up to off ground level (as in not dragging on the ground), and his tail up six inches to stop the mud dreadlocks. Easier to oil up too, and to pick the hooves out without filthy hair in them...... that's what I'm telling myself anyway 
Has anyone else had to take drastic action ? I know they'll be in full bloom again before long, but...
