I'd like to strip graze my field as it's either completely bare or knee high but the ground is so hard I can't move the posts
I was wondering if anyone uses anything other than the spike in the ground posts, such as posts attached to a weighted base
Thanks in advance

You can use post crete to stand a post up in a bucket and then use those for the fence. Might not work if you've got a pony like mine who will reach under and grab the bucket though!

Slightly off topic, but I was horrified to find postcrete is now well over £5 for a little bag ?.

That’s a good idea though if you’ve only got a short fence. I did that when I wanted to section my yard off for one that was on box/pen rest.

Fieldguard have glass fibre posts that can be banged in with a post knocker or their own knocking tool thing. I can get them into very hard ground, takes a little effort but they are much stronger than the plastic ones. You feel like they are going to break but they don’t. You also need the pigtail insulators that go onto the posts. Wear gloves to handle them though

I used to have posts in buckets on a temporary hardstanding area but it's hard to tension the fence and any escape artists will see it as fair game IMO! lucky for me I'm finding my stripgrazed area is soft enough under the long grass to get the posts in.

We used to have posts set into concrete inside old tyres, when we had cattle and needed to divide the yards. They were very stable but heavy.

cattle are way more respectful of electric though-always marvel at 200 cows behind 1 x 3ft strip of tape....sagging about a mile long on 4 bent posts lol!

bit of water on each spot first if its really baked hard.
