Just been watching The Europian Championships show jumping on TV, and such alot of empty seats. Were they over priced. ?The BBC have shown the dressage from last night and every seat was full .
Don't know about the price for the SJ days, but I looked at going for the dressage and thought it was rather pricey. It put me off tbh despite receiving emails from british dressage strongly suggesting that we should make every effort to attend
Agree though, I was a bit shocked to see so many spaces in the grandstands.
Yes, this has actually been discussed on another thread. The tickets were much too expensive, and sadly GB compares badly with mainland Europe and Ireland as to what is charged for equestrian events. The prices will have deterred spectators coming from abroad as well as from within Britain. The profile of our sport does need a big lift in Britain, but that of course is much easier said than done.
The cheapest tickets were £22 going up to £49.
By the time you factor in transport and food especially for a family then it isnt worth it unless you lived close by.
I did go to Blair yesterday and it cost me £20 for ticket and car parking and about £10 on petrol. However there were 2 rings for BSJA, 1 ring with various displays, 1 ring doing PC games all day plus XC for 1*, 2* CIC3* and CCI* plus there was BSJA in the main ring.
Its true its not just the price of a ticket and when you add everything else in it can be a very costly day which in the current climate lots of people just can't afford it.

I think the organiser made a major misjudgment with the pricing and have paid for it in ticket sales. Don't they realise there's a recession on?!

I have to agree with you but also it is a Bank Holiday weekend with so much else going on.
Even more annoying was I tried to get the covered stand tickets as, spending so much to get there etc didn't want crap seats, but was told all sold out. So imagine us sitting in the rain and then the sun frying us as we look across to the so called sold out covered seating to see acres of empty seats. What's all that about eh eh??
That's interesting. Suggest you complain strongly to Horsepower. The ticket agency they use is not a good one, and the organisers won't realise there have been problems unless people complain with the full facts. Do please keep us posted.
They sometimes leave seats unsold behind the judges huts because of the restricted view bit like they do at some concerts - but do agree overpriced imo
Seats WERE expensive (shocked that it came to nearly 100 quid for 2 middle of the range seats, plus parking ticket and programme). But how come there were so many Europeans who'd made the effort to travel over? We chatted to loads of people on the Saturday when we went, mostly Dutch and Germans.
And I was really annoyed to hear someone I know was given 20 free tickets for the Thursday a day before to "fill up the empty seats."
The best bargain of the day was the limitless free beer in the Kentucky tent
Agree the ticket company was not good. I spent ages trying to get through to them. So I emailed the Alltech site (i.e. organisers) but the email just kept bouncing back. Makes me so annoyed that people are incompetent like this. Still, next outing is Your Horse Live again and that was well organised, cheap and lots of fun (apart from seeing a horse in a demo there last year who was very lame and having to complain to the organisers about that!
I'm beginning to sound like the 'grumpy old woman' I am!
