I caved to the Harry Hall sale thanks to some overtime. Waterproofing stood up to a downpour today on its second day of use, but the thin pocket lining has already come unstitched and has a big hole in it, which is pretty disappointing. Will have to get in touch with them tomorrow.
Oooh, that is disappointing. Because I swapped sizes, I have mine but have not worn it yet. I hope they deal with a complaint better than Equitech! Although, I don't suppose they could do any worse, unless they come on here and give out your actual address or something ?.

Selfie outside the front door? :D

I caved and went for a Schoffel one, had enough of equestrian brands.

I've worn the Harry Hall coat in some horrendous rain in the past few days and the water just runs off it. It's quite a warm coat so currently the weather is a bit too mild for it but I'm sure it will get a lot of use once temperatures drop.

Just to update this thread in case anyone is shopping for an Equetech coat - Ive worn mine in the cold weather and it’s been great, wore it yesterday in the rain and definitely not so great ?☹️. it seems to soak up water and whilst it didn’t soak through, it ended up being very cold and unpleasant given that I wasn’t out for that long. No way would it keep me warm and dry in proper rain for any length of time. I’m now off to see if I can find a receipt although I suspect I’m out of luck as I think I’ve had it too long. Bah!

And as feedback on the Harry Hall one - it's been brilliant so far. Held up to yesterday's rain and is light but warm and windproof. I don't like the pocket positioning (zip is high up on the waist and the pockets are deep so it's awkward to get your hands in) and it could do with a few more reflective bits but those are fairly minor niggles.

I’m generally liking the harry hall one, kept me warm and dry. But the pockets are absolutely terrible, both have huge holes so that everything disappears into the lining of the coat. I tried to repair one and the other one went, drives me mad when they use those silky linings that apparently can’t cope with you putting your keys in your pocket.

Yeah that's not great. I don't put keys in mine because they catch and would tear the lining, but as an equestrian coat the pockets should really be a bit sturdier.

Same same here. Great coat, feeble pockets.

My Harry Hall one has performed well, absolutely waterproof. However, I agree that the pockets are a thin material, but also I dislike that the front zip doesn't have a storm flap. The zip itself is also really thin and flimsy looking. I wonder if the fine zip is the reason water hasn't got in.

I can only say as I find though, and the coat has been warm, waterproof, comfortable and hasn't ripped or anything.

HOWEVER on another thread, the Kyla jacket that has also been well recommended came up at £68, and my rather charming Mr Red has ordered me one for my birthday. The HH one was always for stable chores, the Kyla will be for lessons in the wet! The HH one doesn't have a bum warmer flap at the back, and when I went trotting in the rain today, I got water shipped into my pants!

The Harry Hall one was a large and fitted well but I have gone for a size bigger because @Starzaan said to size up.

I really like my Kyla. It held up well in its first proper torrential rain test today. The only thing I would change would be a more peaked hood. The high collar is fab when it's windy/cold but not great when rain finds its way down the wrong side of the collar. Will play around with hood and zip to see if I can avoid this. Other than that it kept my dry in really quite awful weather today. For £68 I think it's a really good buy.

I looked at those today, Mr Red offered to buy one. Sadly, they were not in the sale and I couldn't countenance spending close on £200 when, knowing me, I would likely rip it on a nail first outing! It did look amazing though!!!

I actually saw one in the sale for £160ish last week, I'll see if I can remember where!

-goes shopping- Hadn't realised the state in which my riding coat was in when I get to grab it the other day so at £70 I'm tempted.

The non equestrian brand one I bought I wouldn't be able to ride in so...

Another vote for Kyla :). There's a nearby influencer who wears the Kyla which had put me off buying but after the recommendations on this thread I decided to ignore my biases. I've been wearing it through the winter but yesterday was it's first soaking and although it was drenched I stayed pretty dry underneath so I'm very impressed. Like the poster above, I do wish it had a peaked hood or at least a better fitting hood but otherwise very pleased. Thank you all for the recommendation.

Me too! I love this coat, I had no idea how much difference having a good, waterproof long coat makes to those miserable raining sideways kinda days!

Yay, Kyla has arrived!

It does seem a better quality than the HH one. I did size up but I'm not sure I should have as the vent is now perhaps a little low. However, it has a drawstring that I have tightened that has lifted it a bit.

The HH one and Kyla one were a similar price in the sale, I would say the Kyla is better. However, I haven't used it in the rain yet!

Can I ask what clothes size you are and which size you went for in the Kyla? Keep nearly buying one and can’t decide on size!!

I weigh just under 140lbs, 37 inch chest, 5'7 tall. I have big shoulders rather than chest.

I had a L in Harry Hall, but as Starzaan said to size up, I did, to an XL. Not sure I should have but it will be fine with the drawstring done up!

Hi [Inappropriate content removed]
I saw this feed, and if you wish to pick up this conversation over email, please contact the office info@equetech.com. We have not 'rudely accused' you of washing it but were merely asking a question to ascertain if this was an issue. We stand by our statement that we have not had any waterproof issues on our coats and it was only one batch of fabric, which is why we are confused. We do our upmost to help anyone with a product issue, but without proof of purchase (bank statement, receipt, etc) we cannot take this further. Please feel free to contact me directly to pick up with us. Many thanks Liz
My Equetech coat leaked this weekend. Its only a few months old, only used property this past few weeks, and never washed. V disappointing. Won't buy again.

I have been wondering about replacing my old riding coat, which is an ancient waxed one, with something a little more up to date. Is there such a thing as a hi viz fully waterproof long coat? Or even a bright colour. They all seem to be very dark and it would be nice not to have to faff around with separate hi viz. Obvs won't be buying a Ratner Equitech one after this thread!
