Meh, my equimac isn’t very waterproof either and it’s the third one they’ve sent me. Very good customer service though. Got some fabsil to see if that sorts it otherwise I’m back to the drawing board long coat wise.

For proper downpour days I use a Berghaus Gotetex. I get mine in clearance sales. Marvellous bits of kit!

I have an Equidry, which tends to just be used for late evening and any night checks - it's big enough to throw over jammies and dressing gown (a family of five could comfortably camp out in it), and it's the yellow one, so can be seen from the moon should the need arise.

I got an early one with the thick fleece in too large a size and wear it when I don't want to put the heating on in the yard and for stewarding on cold days. Never ridden in it. If it's that bad I need it, I'm not riding. I also have the one with the thinner fleece in a size smaller and I ride in that. often I only need a t-shirt under it even in winter.

i bought my mini a childs one for christmas and have been stealing it ever since... although its too short in the arms for me. With summer 2024 seeming to be a distant dream I bit the bullet and bought my own. Specifically for morning and evening checks over PJ's and standing around at clinics etc

My Equidry arrived today. First impression was it felt heavy, but actually once it was on it didn’t feel as bad.
I can see me just wearing a base layer under it though, as I reckon I’d overheat in an jumper unless it was really cold.

I’m looking forward to some rain now though! I ordered a size XS.

@Tiddlypom do you find the mac as waterproof and breathable as the pro lite?
Bumping this to report back after extreme product testing of the Equidry Evolution Equimac today during Storm Darragh 😳.

I’m very pleased with the performance of my mesh lined Equimac during utterly horrendous wet and stormy weather sorting out the horses, fencing and downed trees this morning.

Here it is dripping off in the kitchen (along with my gloves) ready to be donned again shortly when I next need to go outside. It’s only wet on the outside.

It’s been a brilliant buy.

I got a fleece lined Equidry back in the summer. I haven't worn it much as it's been so warm - however, on the occasions where I have, it's been superb. I sat all day judging a trec obstacle in driving rain (on two different occasions!) and stayed completely dry and warm. I also wore it to some outdoor events and to Horsemanship Showcase, it was perfect. Love the multiple deep warm pockets (which can hold tins of drink and other foodstuffs :D ). It's like an outdoor Oodie, so snug.
I recently got a Reincoat Lite for riding and have actually worn it quite a bit for yard work and even to go into town today as it's hammering down. I haven't ridden in it yey but the design seems perfect. It's comfortable and seems very waterproof.

Not to derail the thread… but has anyone used the Equidry gloves? Was interested in them for something to do barn work, hand graze, etc. Thank you!

I have an Equidry Pro Ride Lite and find it great for dog walking and on the yard. I live on the West coast of Scotland where it's unbelievably wet and I've always stayed dry underneath in it.
I'm on the North West coast of Scotland so a decent waterproof is a must - otherwise we'd never get out to ride at all!
I got the Equidry Evolution Lite (thin fleece), grey with pink trim. I absolutely love it. Went out when it was just above freezing with a jumper & bodywarmer on under the coat and I was very warm!
I liked it so much I got a navy blue one for the OH's birthday and he thinks it's brilliant too.
Hood goes over the riding hat and can be adjusted so it's a snug fit.
There's also a waist drawstring so it looks less sack-like.

I asked lots of questions before I bought it and the company were always really good to deal with.

Now that I have built up some loyalty points, I'm going to try the gloves when they're back in stock. I recently bought some Sealskinz and wish I hadn't...they are really hard to get on!

I have an equdry allrounder and a reincoat lite. I have worn the reincoat a lot so far and get constant compliments about it. Very waterproof. The equidry is for cold days and I love that as well but they are different coats for different weather. I don't ride nowadays but don't think I could ride in my equidry but they have changed the style since I bought one.

Just bought the new Brontë equidry, it’s a lovely coat! Fitted so not as tent like and the lining is thinner so not too warm for yard jobs but fine for this time of year. It’s a thinner lining than the evolution lite (thinner fleece) so for me it’s perfect!!

After getting soaked in that dreadful downpour on Saturday evening, I’ve decided I need a good coat to keep at the farm.
I won’t use it for riding (I like a blouson for riding, nomatter the weather) so it’s just really for pottering to the muck heap, getting the horses in and doing field stuff in wet weather. I’ll likely remove it for mucking out as I tend to overheat (dodgy inner thermostat)

I was thinking of the thermal 2 rating. I overheat easily so think the 3 will be too hot for me, but
I tend to get a bit clammy in anything more cagoule-like, so I think the 1 will fall into this category.

Do people recommend them?
Must admit i bought a long coat but its too long got getting on and off the tractor - will prob sell and keep to the shorty

Bought them last week, worn them once, no complaints so far. Wasn't rainy when I wore them, just cold. I'm funny with gloves as I have sensory issues but these were ok. That probably doesn't help much! 😂

Have had an Equimac since early this year, worn quite a lot in light rain over spring/summer/autumn for turning out etc, but too flappy/bulky to muck out in (working on a yard, not just doing my own). Not leaked at all, fab for what it is.

Also have a DryRobe with the thick fleece lining - this is my go-to when I'm wet through as it dries me off as well as warms me up. I can't wear it for working as it's far too bulky, but if I'm just doing my own (and therefore standing around too much!) it's good for keeping warm. Not an equine brand so not designed for riding. But it's lovely.

On Black Friday I bought another Equidry with the thin fleece lining. Not worn it yet but I'm hoping it is a bit of a middle point between the above two.

None of them were particularly cheap, but the number of hours I spend working on the yard as well as doing my own ponies kind of justifies it, as does that I sometimes work from the secretary's hut at the yard in the afternoons doing my other (computer based) job if I haven't time to go home after a morning working on the yard, and it's cold enough in there as it is, without also being wet from the morning already!

Oh! What's been the issue with your Equidry macs?
Not waterproof sadly. Such a shame as I loved the coat for bad weather but they all started off okay but leaked to varying degrees despite trying washing and reproofing a few times. Main issue was around the waist where the drawstring was.

I bought the hi viz pink equidry when it was on offer for £99 . It is huge on me which is a bit annoying, it's a small but I am only 5' so it drowns me. My pony likes it cos it covers her as well! Since it has got cold I have switched back to my heated coat.

I’ve just ordered one of the Drywalk coats. They are made by equidry. I have my Musto Suffolk for yard duties and riding in wet weather but I needed a coat for dog walking and the coats in the sale were cheaper. I’m looking forward to trying it out.

I was just going to ask, how have the Equidry coats performed once they have been washed a couple of times

I’ve washed mine at the end of each winter (twice) It’s on its third winter. I used NikWax Tech wash and reproofer and washed at appropriate temperature. It’s absolutely fine and still waterproof. Equidry advice is to wash using NikWax Tech wash and fabsil reproofer can’t see anything about hosing down 🤔.

I thought they'd put more emphasis in the past on hosing over regular washing. But then washing at the end of winter I'd view as being in a 'hose down, don't wash (much)' category - however I used to wash coats weekly/fortnightly! 😂
