Looking for recommendations for a saddler who will be able to check my equipe dressage saddle in East Yorkshire. Also, those of you with equipe saddles, how much do you find they can be altered as I believe they are foam / latex and not flock? Thanks :)

can't help you with a fitter but I adjust mine with a half pad, as you say the panels can't be changed but adding shims is quick and easy :) use mine on 2 horses so they have a pad each which I can adjust as necessary. The mattes shims are thin and stable so you can make small changes. Works for us :)

Thanks millipops, that sounds like it might work for us - pony has been in intermittent work due to some health issues and has dropped off, so I expect him to get bigger again with time so shims sound like they might give is the flexibility to have a temporary solution whilst he gets back to normal. Do you us the Mattes saddle cloth with pockets and then the shims you slot in?

I've got one saddlecloth with pockets, and a couple of half pads :) You can get them with 2 or 4 pockets - if you find that it bridges slightly then the 2 pocket one is good because you can pop a shim right in the middle. Otherwise the 4 pocket allows you to make a front/rear riser. There are some videos online, I think SBloom made them? that show how to trim them so that they taper :)

(for a less pricey option, I've also stuck velcro on the shims and sewn some on a saddlepad - they stay in place pretty well though you do have to check them each time you tack up. But if you want to have fun ordering a mattes pad to your own spec (pretty colour wool, binding etc) go direct to mattes.com, though they do have a lead time of several weeks iirc)
