Hi everyone,

We're looking at maybe purchasing one of these machines.. I just wanted to know what people's opinions of them are.

Have you got one? If so, do you like it? Does it make a difference?

If you don't have one: did you try one? what do you/don't you like about it?

Any opinions would be really helpful.

Thanks in advance everyone!

Jamie

Personally I think for a bit more money there are now better massage machines on the market. The problem with equissage is it only targets the one area (and from what i've heard can cause more harm than good) - there are now massage rugs that go all the way up the neck and massage all over the body - alot better than the equissage.

i've been looking into getting one as well. tbh i think they are VERY overpriced for what they are, but also very very convenient. the fact that you can leave it on the horse safely while you do other things is absolutely brilliant.
they don't replace a chiropractor, and can't treat a problem, but i think they can help a lot to make a stiff horse feel better, for example.
if they were £300 i think we'd all have one, tbh.
i am currently trying to work out if i have the courage to go into a sex shop and get their most powerful vibrator and fit it to a roller... i can't believe a vibrator + batteries can possibly cost £2000!!!+

be aware that their sales people do a very hard sell.

I thought it was slightly more than a vibrator in a roller

I think your horse would be quite frightened if you came at it with a "powerful vibrator"

I have read that their "cycloid" massage is particularly effective... has anyone had any experience of their sales reps?

i used a equissage on the yard i used to groom on, i thought although the vibrations could be felt on the hindquarters and neck most of the massage was just at the wither area and not doing that much good esp for the price of them new!! Although i have to say it was good for settling a mild colic.....

yep, i had a sales rep come out and demo one for me. the cycloidal massage thing (they show how it makes a marble spin, if balanced on top of your fist) is rubbish, it's basic physics... i have a different, much cheaper, hand-held massager bought before equissage was invented, which does exactly the same thing on the same test. when i told the rep that, she said it was breaking their patent then, and illegal!
she did the demo for me, then got one out of her car and started talking about payment, assuming i'd have one immediately. tbh her pushiness put me right off, as did the fact that she said that my McTimoney Chiropractor "personally recommends them", which was a total lie!
i'm sure not all their sales people are like that though.
as i said, if they were cheaper, i'd have one immediately. just need to win the lottery.

A load of VASTLY overpriced codswallop- my ( highly respected) physio says they are no better then the £10 hand held vibrators that you get from Argos. I (very regretabbly) had one and I might have well thrown £3k down the drain.

Those things probably cost the company about £10 to make each!

Freudian slip!!!!

As to Equissage....overhyped and overpriced. And yes, all the reps Ive come across are very pushy.

Not something Id even consider buying.

I have one and its great!! My boy is considerably looser when he has worn it. My physio thinks it is a good idea and the person who came to demo it was quite happy to walk away without a sale! This time she was lucky and we bought one.

there have been a few posts about this recently, i guess it depends what you want it for?
a couple of people i know did their dissertations using equissage looking at whether it made any difference in stride length and range of motion in certain joints and found it made no difference at all

I used one for a while but I much much prefer having the massuse out, she is much better and will come to events with my if needed, I prefer the results and I dont think I would ever use an Equissage machine again.

I've got that!!!! Only had it about two weeks so we shall see how it goes. Our salesperson was lovely, not pushy at all. Even left us all the stuff without us actually giving her a penny yet....very trusting woman!

The dressage yard my daughter trained on used them after work and especially competitions on their horses, and they definitely seemed beneficial.
Then again, so did the equine spa therapy they also used after every long journey a horse had, it was better than the equissage rug, but a tad more expensive at £60k!!!!
We use a long handled massager made for horses and humans, costs around £120 made by Medisana, it's a wonderful tool, if you use your hands first to find any tight spots the massager removes them and relaxes the muscles with vibrating balls (stop thinking rude thoughts) and infra red heat..

Our area rep is a lady called Sally Pritchard. She is lovely, definitely a sales woman, but still lovely and not pushy. She's very experienced with the horses and the equissage, and will do a free treatment session for 2 or 3 of your horses when yuo have her out. If you say you've been referred from me then I think you get a discount by the way! :P
