I went- against all of the little voices in my head saying "its wet" " he got kicked on Tuesday" "im tired" I still decided to go. It was wet, very very deep going but Oshk seems to like it like that some days. We were in the depth of our wall country today and hunting has been very thin on the ground this January, today was one of our first meets since boxing day- so perhaps not the best meet on the card to come out to. He went well for the first wall line- A lot of newbs out and Oshk even allowed one of them to cut him up (

cheers mate) and he was really backing off and taking them at speed but quite nicely. Then it sunk in, he was hunting, he wanted to be up front, he hadnt been out in a while and he was allowed to be silly. When the queing started, he would stand dead sill, and then just as the horse in front set off, he would lauch into the air and fly towards his fences- that scary scary feeling I hate. He must have taken 10walls like this, none of them were touched and I was getting used to it, in fact the rest of the field became wise to him and started giving me abit of a cheer to them. But then we met a ditch- man made from the res with a lot of water flowing through it. We're not a ditch pack, this would have looked at home with some Irish packs it looked bloody terrifying to me, but the most terrifying part was still to come. Oshk left the floor from all fours, greeted with a gasp from the field behind me- which wasnt small, he then put down, took the ditch, the stride after the ditch and the wall in one jump

I was actually beginning to feel a little unsafe here, this isnt like Oshk and I could see it ending in tears. Determined to carry on I got back at one with him and began to really ride him. It was then that we had to loop to jump a wall, and oshk didnt see the wall, just the people galloping off, he leapt off all fours but then was confused which way to go, and spun mid air, I ended up on the floor, I seem to be there quite a lot recently. I bounced back up, jumped on, gave him an oik and set the record straight, but after that retired because he ws really not safe. Back home now, stiff neck, sore arse and a bad back. Itl take more than that to keep me in on a saturday night though

Blimey! You're either very brave or need your head testing

Thats just what my mum says. I think Bertha and Oshk bring out the worst in me, the fact that you can just point and kick at whatever brings a little bit of a power surge to my fingers and me heels, and my logic is lost somewhere in between. My dad was just the same though when he was whippng in, I feel for my poor mum though- she looked at me in utter disgust when I said to her "Its ok mum, I was due a ducking, I havnt fallen off yet this season"

Ouch hope your not in to much pain. Have a long hot bath before you go out!
I knocked a wall down today. !st jump of day was a 5'4" drystone wall. Horse went in 3rd was trying to run out I made him go straight. Field started to turn round didnt want to jump it (can't blame them for first fence of the day!) Any how we clipped it (I thought he'd sat on it but field Master said he only just touched it). Field heard it & turned round & came at it!

Then hacking home everyone in field came up & said thank you to me for knocking it down so that they could follow!!

I have to give it up to you girl. No matter how bad the day you are still there on a saturday night!

I would be flat on my bed with a teddy and a george clooney movie! Haha.

Give it a few more outings and then he'll be calm, well, as calm as Oshka can be to a jump!

God you're brave but sensible for retiring when you did (wimpy me would have retired after he realised he was hunting!). Hope your sore body recovers soon...dance it out tonight and get a few drinks down you to warm you up

oh hun, hope you feel better soon!
Harry was being just the same today, was jumping every little dip in the ground, every puddle, taking silly strides at every fence, cant believe how he got over some of them the way he was standing off today, leaping around like a total arrogant bugger... luckily managed to stay on, although had to jump one post and rail stirrupless after the most huge leap before hand..!

Its so frustrating though, I cant knock it out of him, he never tires, I just need something to stop him going up, he almost hit me in the face with his head today, never a good sign!

Perhaps you should start smoking, and stub fags out between his ears.

Oh dont tempt me- Louise sid something very very similar in between trails today. Its this new form of hunting- start stop start stop, it frys my coloureds brains, bring back Andrew German, he knew how to entertain the field, I miss him so much, he was one of the best huntmen I have ever watched work...
More gin? I couldnt face more gin, eugh!

Ohh, you fell off and I missed it!

Sarah I missed you soo much, only had Stacey to play with. Jo went with the B&B and said they went 12miles, fieldmaster was on his TB and was abit nuts, so all in all I think I was best going with Rockers- your mum loved it, some great walls to take...unless you are on oshk
