I don't have a sub to CMH so am hoping that H&H will put up similar videos of Charlotte and Lottie. Was delighted to see Imhotep had done so well.

Was a good competition with less rough riding as seen in previous years.

Glamourdale's piaffe really let him down and Imhoteps frame was much better. Carl gave a masterclass in how to ride a hot and nervous horse and Iberians are still my favourite 😂

I just said that to my friend, not so much of the heavy hands and kicking spurs, just saying 😃

Edward gal and his partner didn’t ride this time ☺️

All brits are in the special tomorrow and I hope Gareth throws caution to the winds and shows us what Classic Briolinca can do . He had to have a clear round for the team but as tomorrows is individual he can go for it…

Our win is online on BBC sport, wonder if they will mention it in the news. We also got silver and bronze in the Para events but as far as I know that wasn’t reported on the tv news but was on BBC sport… they manage to report in detail about the failures in our football, cricket , golf and motor racing , it would be nice if our success in equestrian sports was at least given a mention. Unless anyone has seen it reported I will once again send in a complaint to the BBC

Carl is just the master, he makes these incredibly hot horses look smooth and relaxed. Thrilled to see Britain take gold, we really are world class (for once I’m not being sarcastic) and it would be nice to see that get some recognition.

I would love to see Carl take an individual medal, no one has had more impact on the sport in Britain than him IMO.

Watching last night's news*, the "sport" report was about a flower arranging competition that UK was 4th in!

Don't know how many people in UK have at least some interest in riding, but it must be a huge number. It's tempting to say that there's no coverage because horse sport is seen as elitist but they don't cover darts or fishing either. Are they just stuck in a rut? Don't understand why there's not even a brief mention.

What I find annoying is that we won GOLD!!!! There are loads of young girls (mainly) who love ponies and it would be nice for them and their parents to see such success in our sport . Right BBC and the rest of them complaints will be made !!!!

I'm really pleased that Gareth and the lovely Briolinca got a gold medal. I know he was the discard score but she is so lovely to watch. (Didn't see her this time but watched her at the London International in december on TV)

High level dressage sometimes makes me feel a little uneasy, but I did just watch Carl Hester's test and agree with what others have said, he is such a good rider! And made that hot horse look very easy.
My OH said he played right into the hands of the "you just sit there and the horse does all the work" crowd 😜 I said in that case pop me up on Fame and watch what happens. 🤣🤣

Lovely GPS test from Gareth, Briolinca isn't the biggest mover but the test looked soft and easy all the way through. Think he'd have been hoping for a bigger score but it must be boiling hot there and the mare is 17 now - looking fantastic though.

This is the reply I received when I complained that they didn’t mention us winning the European Eventing recently:

Thanks for getting in touch regarding BBC sports coverage.

We know that not everyone will agree with our choices on which sports stories to cover or the order in which they appear. Our sports teams make these complex decision and we accept that not everyone will agree with each decision – various factors are at play and there’s often debate within the sports team too.

We aim to include a very wide and diverse range of sports across our programming, but space and time are limited meaning we cannot include everything. We have to try and select what are felt to be the most newsworthy and current items, but we appreciate this is subjective rather than an exact science.

Please be assured that we do value your feedback about this. All complaints are sent to senior management and we've included your points in our overnight report. These reports are among the most widely read sources of feedback in the company and ensure that your concerns have been seen by the right people quickly.

Very odd scoring fit him. Two judges had him 5 and 6 the others 1st.

What’s that all about!!!!

No coverage on The Guardian, either. :(

Is there anywhere to watch tests for free. I saw Carl's because a friend shared a link on FB.

I follow Denny Emerson on FB (Tamarack Hill farm), and he wrote a post yesterday wondering why Britain seems to be able to pool its talent and create medal winning teams since 2012, and the US not so much. Denny and a few people speculated that it was down to the BHS, a 'better system' for training riders and horses, whereas the US doesn't have a system of any sort. I was almost tempted to write that in my experience, the BHS system isn't that useful for developing international riders or even good riders, and outwith barns like Carl's and Gareth's and so on, there's as much crap riding and crap instruction as there is anywhere else. There's good trainers too, of course, but you need to seek them out. The UK's success probably has a lot of luck to it -- right horses, right people, right time -- but once you get that, being a smaller country, both geographically and population-wise, does help since it's easier to centralize your talent around the south of England, develop up and coming riders and horses, and keep up the momentum. It is much harder in the US where dressage competition is very decentralized. Each USDF region has its own competition circuit, internationals are few and far between (especially in the Midwest and Western states), and there could be the next Charlotte Dujardin in Grand Junction, CO, but Steffan Peters, out in Gladstone, NJ, will have no idea they exist. Makes accessing the horse power trickier as well, whereas nowhere in the UK is actually that far from anywhere else in the UK, and you're not desperately far from Europe, either.

Anyway, that's my half-baked theory!

And one had him in 10 th, and that judge has marked some others much better than the other judges. the Trouble is that so many horses now have such a spectacular movement they get away with not being so correct in their way of going whereas Briolinca does a very correct test without being behind the vertical and shows a harmonious test which just doesn’t have the oomph of the flashy ones. Personally I prefer her way of going
