EVA matting VS rubber matting

So what are the advantages and disadvantages of EVA matting and normal rubber matting? The way I interpret it, is that the EVA looks much softer? But I'd be worried that the sides would curl up as they're more lightweight? Also, has anyone used Easimat? They come in 22mm and 34mm thick, would the 34mm be necessary for a 14.2 pony? I loved the look of equimat but sadly out of my budget. Any recommendations for brands of mats, EVA or rubber? Thanks:)

I have the 34mm easimat and they flatten on the edges rather than curl .they are brilliant I love them my 16.2hh has been on them for 2 yrs and they are lasting really well

I have Mighty Lite mats . They are brilliant , seem just as hardwearing as rubber ones but so much easier to lug aruond . The only downside is that I ignored the instruction to leave gaps around the edges ; they swell a bit in the heat , started bulging upwards and needed trimming again . My fault though , not the mats' . I have had mine for I think 7 years , no significant signs of wear yet .

Yep EVA for me too. I had 18mm hard rubber mats before and they were ok for what I needed (provide anti-slip cover for shiny concrete floor) but so so heavy and awkward.

New stable has 34mm EVA wall to wall and it's wonderful. Horse is comfortable and it's easy to sweep etc. Mine are a mix of easimat and arkmat, they are identical. I cut them with a breadknife, really easy :)

I have got the Arkmat EVA mats. They are great. Have had them for about 2 years now and in that time have moved yards with them. They are so light and easy to move. The yard I am on now had always previously said they didn't like mats but since mucking out my stables they have changed their minds and find them really easy to muck out. As Cauda Equina said, they do swell which causes bumps but they are really easy to trim - I just used a stanley knife. The edges have not curled up at all.

I have the EVA had it down for over a year now. When it first went down I had to keep trimming it every couple of weeks as it was expanding and lifting. This stopped after a couple of months and since they have been great much softer and warmer than rubber mats and easier to brush too. There has been a few small chunks come out in the middle where she stands and sleeps so I dont know what they would be like with a shod horse but for me they are one of my best buys

I have EVA (from Robinsons, don't know who makes them) and they haven't ever shifted, lifted, dented, curled, depressed! Fitted snugly in Norfolk, moved up here and even with them not being fitted properly, they haven't moved. I hate rubber, slippery when wet, extraordinarily heavy if you need to move. And I see getting increasingly expensive so now not even the cheap option!

I have the 22mm easimats in both stables with a 15.3hh and a 14.3hh. They are easy to fit and cut with a stanley knife. I have had the for 5 years with no problems. They are nice and light to carry and soft for the horses to lie on.

I have the EVA mats from Robinsons too - the first lot are about 8 years old and still hold up well (think they have a 10 yr guarantee) but they have mostly been chopped up to fill in spaces. They fit well, and do not curl up, they are quite stiff. Very easy to cut, we use a sharp kitchen knife. Trick is to cut them slightly easier and then jump on them to fit.

They do need to be fitted tightly though otherwise they will move.
