eventing stallions... (thoroughred)

i have a One More Tiger 4yro who i have just put back in the field from her first cross country schooling session!

firstly, she is stunning to look at. she excelled last year in showing classes and in 3 shows took 2 championships and 1 reserve champion. she is very compact with a HUGE set of quarters!!!

she was exceptionally easy to break at home and has a first rate temperament. she moves straight and well and her jumping is coming along very well.

today (first xc session) she jumped up and down a bank, through water, through a PN coffin... didn't stop at a single fence and didn't have a lead horse for anything either. she has a decent pop in her and should get to at least Novice level, coupled with her excellent temperament she could make a cracking JRN horse.

however... i wouldn't expect her to go to Badminton as i don't think she is at that level but who knows? her dam was a very successful flat horse by Inchinor so any jump she shows is purely from One More Tiger.

i am looking for a TB for my other filly for next year and think i have decided on Stravinsky as his movement is first class for a TB and as my filly is unproven as yet, i wanted to use a stallion with lots of progeny on the ground.

Just wanted to add a few good eventing sires:

Eighty Eight Keys, with proven int progeny:
http://www.sporthorse-data.com/d?d=eighty+eight+keys

Business, very good eventer with promising progeny:

I don't think that his sire Stubin is available, otherwise he has a fabulous female line...

I'm also very impressed with Handsome Stranger even if I haven't seen him IRL:

Fantastic sire, very interesting bloodlines.

Best wishes,
Cissi

Indeed - and he's an Anglo-Arab! Tracing back to some great old Egyptian Arab lines...

Yes, both Stubin and his son Business are anglo arabs. Business is licensed for SWB aswell. He has competed int eventing, while Stubin was a jumper that also won the Swedish Championship in eventing

.
Here's more info and pics:

I'll see if I can find pics of Stubin, he was performing without saddle and bridle at the Globe Arena (Stockholm International Horse Show). Also jumped with saddle but without bridle...

Best wishes,
Cissi

Just wanted to clarify what I meant with a very strong female line for Stubin...
smile.gif

Stubin was bred and owned by the Dellings. Hans Delling is an Advanced Showjumping rider while his wife Maud is an Advanced Dressage rider.

They had the lovely TB mare Therese (by Tehran-Abernant) who they bred to the Arabian Bilbao. From that, they got the gelding Tristan and the mare Tebe. Tristan competed Advanced jumping with Hans and Advanced dressage with Maud for many years.
Tebe was the dam of for example Sheila (by Stove Friend TB, Elite graded, dam of the advanced jumper Lady Milenca H and a bunch of broodmares), Stubin (by Stove Friend TB, Elite graded breeding stallion, advanced jumping and Swedish Champion eventing) and Saga (by Stove Friend TB, intermediate jumping and eventing).

Therese also produced Terra Rossa (dam of an intermediate jumper and broodmare), Snöboll (dam of intermediate jumper and advanced eventer etc) and last but not the least the advanced jumper Yrhätta, who later was Elite-graded as a broodmare for producing top jumpers and broodmares up to advanced level. Etc etc...

Therese comes from a great female line too...

If I remember it correctly, Stubin is the first stallion to receive his Elite as a top breeding stallion (with progeny at advanced level in every discipline) and looking at his female line I'm not surprised. A good breeding stallion has a super dam (the woman behind the man you know

).

I don't think that Stubin is available any longer, I've never heard of frozen from him either.

Best wishes,
Cissi

I know another Business, that is also an anglo-arabian grey eventer with great arabian genes: descends from Bajar.

How funny, they even look the same!

I don't know if this Business is competing any longer, I think he was placed *** with Johan Lundin (SWE). I know that Johan has a few other horses that he competes, so I guess Business (this one) is focusing on breeding now?

It would be great to know the pedigree of the other Business, what level is he competing? I am totally into bloodlines you know, since there are two eventers with the same name it could be good to know more about the other too.

No problem

He looks like a very nice stallion, although it seems like he passed away this year? Really sad...

As for Business, I think one of my sister's mares (who's leased out) might go to him next year. The foal will have a little bit too much TB to be a "pure" AA, but it seems like his former rider is interested in a colt, and if it's a filly it should be good breeding material for eventing anyway...

Yes, he did, poor little chap. Another underestimated sire...

Do you know Daswam, the French Anglo-arab. He's really nice too! I like his 'pony'-appearance!

What do you think of Hopalong Cassidy and his half brother Market Square?

I must admit those names were new to me
blush.gif
- living in Sweden you know... And eventing doesn't get that much attention in TV broadcasts...

Daswam - looks lovely!
smile.gif
Arabian sire and TB dam - I wonder about the size of his progeny? I'd like to have either a substantial WB mare or a pony mare with pure pony bloodlines for him... But I love his looks! Seems to be a great jumper too.

Hopalong Cassidy - the one by Strong Statement? In that case I'd say super bloodlines when it comes to the stallions. Must check the female line. SS has produced very well for eventing. In fact, I just found a Swedish Warmblood son of his competing in the UK with success (Big El, Elliot in Sweden). Glacial, Hornbeam and then a full sister of the stallion Rebell Fortuna... Not bad at all.

Market Square - another SS!
grin.gif
Must check up the female line before I say too much but it looks interesting!

Well, these are really interesting acquaintances

What do you think of Jalmood?

(not available any longer, I'm sure)

Best wishes,
Cissi

Well; I'm from Belgium, so eventing isn't that popular either...

The size of Daswam's progeny is quite normal, as he is only 1m52. His foals are around 1.65... He's truly a great jumper! His foals inherit his superb conformation and mind. He's tanding in southern France.

Jalmood has superb bloodlines with Sicambre AND Red God (two substantial sires when it comes to eventing and showjumping). I like his limbs, his expression and his neck. Was he a consistent sire in sporthorse breeding? His pedigree is VERY VERY interesting anyway!

I'm very interested in the two SS sons and in their female bloodline.

He was only used in racehorse breeding here, but I've heard of a few nice TBs by him. My sister has one that I just love. Not big, a cribber like his sire (most Jalmood's seem to be), but very capable eventer
smile.gif
. Jalmood was used in the UK before he came to Sweden, I'm quite curious about what he produced...

I have added, and I'm still adding more, relatives to Hopalong Cassidy. He was bred in Sweden and had good results racing here. I have no idea what has happened after he was exported to Finland? The female line is indeed very interesting! Have a look at Top Flight in the thread about TBs going GP dressage

Here's Hopalong Cassidy's updated pedigree:
http://www.sporthorse-data.com/d?d=hopalong+cassidy

I would be very very happy to know more about him! Do you know if he has competed? Is he available through transported semen? The pedigree is really something I'd like to use... I don't think that he was ever shown in Sweden...

Best wishes,
Cissi
